Travelling india to US via canada

anybody has experience travelling via canada to US?

Do Green card holders need a visa or eTA?

Green card holders do not need transit visa. I once tried passing through with EAD/AP and I was denied boarding - they mentioned that they will accept Green Card, which, of course, I did not have.

If you are travelling on Air Canada, then it would make sense to call and confirm - or take eTA just as a precaution (it is a simple, online thing I believe) - they have the reputation is being totally weird about it.

    Thank you both.

Imdeng, do you remember the approximate year and month of your incident?

2 days back my wife was not allowed to board an air canada flight at DELHI despite having GC. I tried applying for the ETA but we were too close to the flight time and missed flight.

We have been going in and out of Canada on GC for 7 years now ... but that was from US. Perhaps they don't care when you are flying from US.

It was last year - April - at DTW.

I am so tired of transit visa uncertainties that I have started flying ORD to DEL direct on Air India. The flight absolutely sucks, Air India folks do not know the meaning of customer service, planes are so filthy, don't even ask me about bathrooms - but at least I don't have to connect anywhere and convince someone clueless that yes AP is a valid means of entry into USA!
