Necessity to notify USCIS to withdraw pending COS

    Hi,

USCIS has received my application about COS from H4 to F1 . I plan to visit India and come back on H4 ( unprecedented family emergency and hence I need to travel on short notice and do not have time to pursue visa stamping in India ) . DO I have to actively notify USCIS to withdraw my application or it will automatically be considered as abandoned?

    Thanks for replies,

    Century

Eitherway it doesn't matter because you are starting afresh on your status when you try to reenter US. If it is an easy process (and not cost you) then try to cancel the request - especially if USCIS is not going to cash your cheque in case of cancellation ( I am not sure).

But from status perspective - it doesn't matter at all.

I wish you well withe emergency situation.
