Dont worry you will get it soon and will be able to soon visit your kid . I feel your pain with respect to FP and I am in the same boat ( did mine on the assigned day after 1 1/2 month later after receipt of the application ) .

Anywaz lets just pray the visas last and the files reach an L2 officer.

I think it is more on "luck" than anything else...lot of factors have to align together..
but sooner or later everybody will have a smile on their face...that is what matters in the end..

Good to know that this is not just my case.

As long as the process is moving forward, we are good. Good to know that you got your FP notice.

Just a thought, sharing with you guys.

One thing I learnt in this process, or rather I should say realized, I tried all avenues, thought out of the box, pro-active, and took advantage of whatever non-ordinary opportunities present in this process. This is what I coined myself whence driving onto work next day after green card.

"Don't fear to walk away from the straight path to go into the right direction."

The path you originally walk on maybe straight, paved, with comfortable pit stops and rest areas. But it may not be the right direction. For the right direction, one should deviate from this straight path, go off road, feel the adventure, take the risks, and he shall find that the correct milestones were only on this one, the road less traveled, the path less beaten!

I did some random queries on uscis online case status site and it seems to enter my case into their online system they will have to do about 9100 entries before me.

    Nishant,
Thanks for reminding one of my favorite poems.
I strongly believe in follow your heart.. don't burden yourself in tesnion and "what will happen ?" ..

    -- By Robert Frost
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
    To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim
Because it was grassy and wanted wear,
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I marked the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
    Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
    -- By Robert Frost

From your PD I am guessing that you applied sometime in Feb. Mine was received on 2/1 and still the receipt numbers dont work. What was your receipt date?
    Thanks

My PD is 10/16/2009. My receipt date is 2/2 and Notice date is 2/8.

Maybe they started activating the receipt numbers from top of the pile .... so SunnyAround applies later and gets to loose anxiety attacks sooner

    Thanks.
    What is your service center?

TSC (Texas Receipt numbers start with SRC****** ) or NSC (Nebraska - LIN****). NSC is quick in updating online systems but late in issuing FP notices. TSC is vice versa and that is why I have FP notice but no online status thingy.

Did you get the FP appointment notice? If yes then what date?

Funny thing is I still don't have my receipts , I know my # s from my lawyer who got it and the first ever status that I saw was "post office returned the mails saying undeliverable and it could have serious effects on processing of your case". So in reality I ended up getting more "anxiety attacks" . I was little relieved when I got my FP notice yesterday after I put bigger name labels on my mailbox.
