Got EAD/AP approvals for wife today. What a relief. Her 6 years H1B was set to expire on 03/15, so this was perfect timing.

Is it just me or does the number of approvals spike couple of days before Demand Data is released? I feel that there were more approvals few days back and then, it kind of dried up.

Does anyone remember how things were processed when the floodgates were opened in 2007? Was there any order in petitions getting approved - By PD or by RD? How was NSC vs TSC etc.?
This is what I found out:
Q. When does the flu season start for purposes of the seasonal flu vaccine requirement? Since the seasonal flu vaccine is required, do I have to get the seasonal flu vaccine if it is not the flu season?
A. For purposes of the immigration medical examination, the flu season starts on October 1 and ends on March 31 each year. If your immigration medical examination is during this period, you are required to have the seasonal flu vaccine. If you have an immigration medical examination completed between April 1 and September 30, when it is not the flu season for immigration purposes, you are not required to document that you have received the seasonal flu vaccine.

I only got I 765 approval notice so called USCIS since I am not able to track case online they always transfer to Level 2 officer , I was told that my I 131 is also approved. She told me that it is not always combo card but in my case it was and card is valid for 1 year and she was nice , she gave me usps tracking no for EAD/AP card. It reached my town today and will be delivered tomorrow. I asked for I 485 status and she said nothing happens after my finger print , she told me that my bio metrics was uploaded on same day it was taken. When I asked about back ground check , she can't track that. She was not sure if it was uploaded same day means it was done by FBI too or just uscis got from ASC center.
She can't look into details but no one is looking at file and it is pending , no activity in system. Just for information to who can't talk to Level 2 officer because they can track online.

Bhaiyo aur Behno..kursi ki peti baandh lo.. kab kiska number aayega kisiko nahi pataa.. bas number aane pe apni khushiyaan is forum pe baatna aur apne bhai -beheno ki badhaiyaan le jaana..
A NSC guy got RFE, to me its same thing, it means ur file is picked up actively.
Yesterday I went crazy over LIN number searching on case status online and shared with teddy my results. I won't post here as I think it's unethical to post others' receipt numbers. But results were that NSC is actively into Nov 11 filings and until Nov 28th 2011 RD, I found approvals or RFE, and most EAD/AP approved.
I could not find any Dec RD RFE or approval. I will do this kung fu again today. I think the sweet spot for Dec filers will be end Feb - March.

How do you search for LIN #s? Based on LIN #s entered on Trackitt? Even if you don't post specific cases, if you could post overall stats like.. % of Applications with RFEs, # of cases updated per day/per week based on LUD.. we would be able to narrow down the sweet spot and add some sanity to this madness..
Based on approvals, its clear that it is not a "strictly by PD/RD process". There are a lot of variables at stake like Employer Company Size (Almost every1 says Fortune 500.. which to me is fishy),Education, # of H1B transfers etc etc..
The selfish me was only following the "Trackitt- Dec. 2011 " tracker.. but I guess its time to take a daily inventory of the "'Trackitt- Nov. 2011" tracker and analyze the daily changes. That would give us an idea about the processing rate and also shed some light on visa availability.
PD: Aug 2008. RFE response Review 6/19. Initial Review on 6/20
I first searched around my own number.
If you look at number from the right side, instead of left, and call the rightmost the 0th digit, then when you change the 4th digit
eg:
LINABXYZ65432
Here, 6 is the 4th digit. If you change this digit, you see significant change in region of month or dates. Then the 3rd digit leads to a less significant change in region of dates. And the last three do not generally lead to a much of a change.
You can play around with this starting from your own receipt number.
There is no reason or rhyme behind their numbering schema which I could understand. Numbers higher than mine were showing received date of 10 days before me at times for I-90 applications.
I would say that for November, half of I-485 I came across had approval or RFE. Which indicates they are actively into November, while for December, I did not find a single approval or RFE.

It is better to avoid this. With recent attacks on Govt servers, it may not be a wise thing to do. Also the site clearly asks you to "Enter your receipt number". So please do not look for other case numbers. Knowing the number of approvals/ denials/ RFEs may give us an idea as to when to expect a response on our petition, but it is not going to change anything. Things will happen when they are supposed to happen.Just my $0.02
USCIS unveils SelfCheck for Employement Verification. Might be interesting to play using our newly issued EADs. I'm not sure if the same can be used to check H1B work permits also.

What does My USCIS Case Number Mean?
USCIS assigns a 13-character case number (receipt number) to each application, for example: SRC 06 012 54321. A case number is structured like this: AAA-XX-YYY-Z-MMMM:
AAA: The service center or office that received your case.
SRC - Texas Service Center (TSC, formerly Southern Regional Center)
LIN - Nebraska Service Center (NSC, Lincoln, NE)
WAC - California Service Center (CSC, formerly Western Adjudication Center)
EAC - Vermont Service Center (VSC, formerly Eastern Adjudication Center)
MSC - Missouri Service Center (MSC, transitioned to NBC)
NBC - National Benefits Center (NBC, for N-400, I-90 and other cases)
XX: The fiscal year of USCIS, from October 1 to September 30. Cases filed from 10/01/2006 to 09/30/2007 will have xx = 07
YYY: The working day of the fiscal year when your case is received. 10/01 = 001
Z: This digit is part of a serial number but may have certain meanings for USCIS internal use.
MMMM: A serial number assigned to your case based on the number of cases received, starting from 0001
