I-94 Date vs Passport Stamp Date

Here is the case: parents visiting from India on B visa. Pretty peaceful interaction with the Immigration Officer - he stamped passports for both and returned. Later, on closer inspection, it turns out that the "Valid Till" date is 6 month out from day of entry for one parent and only 3 month out from the day of entry for another. I looked up the online I-94 and both I-94 are showing validity date 6 months from the date of entry.

So, essentially, the dates in the passport stamp does not match the date on online I-94. Parents plan to return before the I-94 date but after the passport stamp date.

What are our options:

1. Ignore passport stamp date as the I-94 date is the "legal" date that is considered by USCIS/CBP for validity of stay (based on my cursory googling).
2. Write an e-mail to the I-94 folks at DTW airport (the arrival airport) and ask for guidance. (DTW folks are not responsive over email, unlike the ORD folks).
3. File for extension of stay using form I-569?
4. Any other option?

Officer probably made a typo while writing the date in passport. Last time I entered, the officer didnt even put date in passport and left it blank. I think you can go with the online date and ask them to carry the printout of online I-94 while leaving and also when they enter next time. Also there is no harm in writing them an email and confirm.

This has been my default position so far - and all the Internet sources lean this way as well. I have taken a print of online I-94 for records purposes.

I have personally had issues similar to this 2 times.

Passport stamp date vs I94 mismatch.

1st time, the I94 was incorrect.
2nd time, the passport was incorrect.

In both cases i emailed to I94 folks of my city. They were very prompt and helpful and fixed the problem within 2 days.

I would recommend you email them just to be safe.

I encountered a similar issue with my in-laws, where my father-in-law's passport was not stamped at all. Online I-94 was showing correct info. Went to CBP office at Dulles airport. The officer said that as long as the online I-94 showed the correct info, we are good. He did stamp the passport during that visit and put the correct date on it. So, a visit to the local CBP office (https://www.cbp.gov/contact/deferred...red-inspection) should take care of this.
