I-485 New Form Instructions.

Hi All,

Sorry to post it in wrong section, please move it after someone replies.
Can you please help me in filling new I-485 form on Page 3.

I am principle applicant and filing under employment based category.
What immigrant category should I select for my spouse ?
If I choose EB for my spouse, should I select I-140 ?

Firstly, I have to say that the new form (and instructions) is a huge backward step. Clarity is not something it provides.

As best I can tell.

For your I-485 application:

You would fill out 1b as Alien worker, Form I-140, then you would fill the details required in 3. and 4. for the primary applicant.

For your spouse's I-485 application:

They would fill out 1b as Alien worker, Form I-140, then they would fill out the details required in 5a. to 9 for the derivative applicant.
