Entering US after I-485 is approved when in India

Can you please help if any of you were in a similar situation as below:

My I-485 and my wife's I-485 were approved on Sep 3rd. We got the physical cards on Sep 7th.
My wife was in India ( since July 30th) and came back to US on Sep 12th. She showed her EAD/AP card at POE ( in San Francisco). She was asked to fill a paper based I-94 ( at secondary inspection) and was paroled in with an end date of Sep 11, 2014. The immigration officer did not ask or mention anything about her I-485 approval. My wife also did not volunteer to tell anything since she was not asked.
Few others who have been in a similar situation have mentioned that they either got I-551 stamped in their passports or were paroled in but were asked to vist the local CBP office with their green card for deferred inspection.
Does my wife need to go to local CBP office for deferred inspection?

    Thanks for your time.

hk - first of all congratulations on your approval.

My understanding is that you can go around with your life as usual without worrying about anything. 551 stamping in your passport can wait until next time you travel abroad and come back. You already got the cards. 551 stamp is just a stamp that recognizes this in your passport.

Thank you for your opinion. My wife was just worried that the IO did not even mention anything about her 485 approval. He obviously would have seen it when he entered her A#.

    Appreciate your time.

My wife is in a similar situation. She is in India now, and I received her GC here.

We have some family thing going on, and she needs to extend her stay. Can she use GC to re-enter? The reason I am asking that question is that her proposed new return date is going to be few days after her AP expires. Do you see any issues with her staying that long? One thing to note, with new proposed date, she is going to stay outside US longer than 6 months, but less than 9 months.
