There are 2 types of porters.

    a) Those who already have an I-485 pending under EB3. That's limited to PDs up to July 2007, since EB3-I has never passed that date since EB3-I was Current in 2007.

Those cases only need to complete the interfiling process, which can be very quick. These types of cases can be approved within the FY, provided USCIS have sent out the RFE for a new Medical in good time. So far on Trackitt, there is a distinct lack of early PD cases reporting receiving an RFE for a new Medical.

    b) Those that have never filed an I-485, but whose case now becomes Current under EB2. They are just the same as new non-porting EB2 filers who previously missed the boat. No interfiling is involved, since they do not already have an I-485 to convert from a an EB3 basis to an EB2 basis.

Probably not much chance of being approved within FY2014. Some possibility in October 2014 for very early submitted cases. Most likely later in FY2015. It depends partly on when they can file and whether they choose to include an I-693 or not.
    Spec,

What do you do for a living? Your language is impeccable, your clarity of thought is near perfect and your quantitative skills are great. Are you the CEO of any company?

    Iatiam,

You are not the first one to ask him, he has been bombarded with the same question on many different occasions. He keeps on smiling.

Spec, while organizing the threads, you were wondering if you are writing in a foreign language! On a fun note Yes Spec ! English is a foreign language to all the Indians

So many of us have wondered about Spec's identity over the years. There even was consensus few years back that Spec is same as another poster at trackitt whose name also started with S. Spec guards his privacy fiercely - and we have come to respect that - after several futile efforts to guess his identity. Just be happy that he (she?) is around and willingly shares his/her knowledge and wisdom.

PS> Research shows that most CEOs are psychopaths - in layman's terms - selfish jerks. Spec is anything but that.

I'm almost sure spec is CO himself masquerading these forums with a fake identity and a made up PD. If you look at the pattern, Spec has pretty pessimistic expectation, just like CO would have, but at the end of the day when CO/Spec get better data regarding demand, CO/Spec moves the date as far as is legally possible.

Of course, this is just conjecture.

Spec Identity Speculation / Spec Appreciation

Spec has been kinda miffed recently about folks posting non-calculation/prediction related items in the Calculation/Prediction thread. So - I am moving posts regarding Spec's identity and appreciation of Spec's contribution to this thread. Have at it to your heart's fill here - without any fear of Spec's wrath :-)

    geevikram,

    Funny you should say that.

I absolutely try to think as CO would. After all, he is responsible for setting the Cut Off Dates. I've noticed he is very careful with his language, so I pay particular attention to direct quotes attributed to him, or his notes in the VB. It was a little disappointing not to see any comments in the July VB. I guess he did not want to raise expectations in an official document.

Unfortunately, he has better information on some aspects than is available to us. In other areas, involving information held by USCIS, I think he is just as much in the dark as we are. I think that's why he has such difficulty setting the EB COD, who are primarily processed by USCIS, since he can't see the pipeline for all Categories and Countries. That's at least partly why EB2-I sees such wild swings.

I sometimes think I wouldn't mind his job, difficult as it is, but I don't think I would like the politics surrounding it.

I know some people do not like CO. I respect him - he does a pretty good job all things considered. His recent failings have been very beneficial to Indian applicants.

Sometimes it seems he can't please anybody.
Without an irritant, there can be no pearl.

I agree - CO has done a pretty decent job considering his constraints. I am sure we would like him to be more forthcoming and transparent about his decision making process - but considering the downside of displeasing one side or the other - he has been walking the tightrope pretty well.

I will say Spec has helped so many of us, he is like Robinhood of EB2I folks.
I am sure everybidy like me look forward to his 'wisdom words' on the prediction of dates. It has given us tremedous confidence to know plan around this difficutl unpredicatble part of our lives.
I respect privacy of his and will not speculate on his/her identity.
