    Received Notices

Friends - finally got the notices by post today (I-485, I-765, I-131). Following are the details. It seems they have sent my application to Nebraska center.

    Some goof-ups:
    - Spouse's PD (dependent) is listed as the received date. Sounds like a non issue.
    - The alien # on my I-765 is listed as my spouse's alien #. Not sure if it's an issue. Need to touch base with lawyer on this.

    I-485 RD: 04-Nov-2011
    I-485 ND: 09-Nov-2011
    I-485 Service Center: Nebraska
    NSC || PD : Sep 2007 || RD: 03-Nov-2011 || ND: 08-Nov-2011 || FP : 16-DEC-2011 || EAD/AP : 20-Dec-2011 || I-485 Approved: 09-Feb-2012 (Mera # aa gaya)

I am not a lawyer, and don't play one on TV. Things I say may sound like legal advice, but they are really not!!

Does Anyone has applied EAD after submitting I-485

Hello, I have a quick questions. I will be current as of Dec 1 with a PD Feb 08. EAD/AP is generally submitted along with I-485 application but have anyone filed EAD later after filing I-485 and is there any fees associated.

My company bears partial expense for I-485/EAD/AP but not for EAD of spouse, They want me to shell out $380 for EAD for spouse, While there is no fees associated with filing EAD when I-485 is paid with new fees after 07/30/2007. So i am wondering if it makes sense to submit EAD later once the I-485 fee receipt comes along.

    Please advise

Yes, there is no fee involved for EAD/AP - either you file it along with 485 or file it at a later date. If you are filing at a later date, include a copy of 485 rcpt notice.

I am not sure why your employer asking for EAD fee, when it is free.

    meso129:
Sounds like a weird stands from employer. Lawyer's fee is not going to be any lesser if EAD is not applied along with 485. There is no fee for EAD if applied with 485. May be you want your employer to give you details of what is the extra cost involved if they are filing your spouse's EAD.

    red2green:
Are you sure there is no fee if EAD is separately applied after filing 485?
is it like there is no fee for first EAD?

That is the date of the last(min) application date they were processing as of September 30th 2011. It doesn't mean that all applications are around that date. Majority of the apps they are processing now could be well in July-August 17th range.

edit: I guess it is Mar 29 2011, so what does this mean? are they processing apps that are applied before this date? or apps before this PD? I guess Nebraska is better right?

They are probably asking you to pay expenses for your spouse. $1070.00. Normally employers pay only for the employee. EAD/AP is always included in the 485 fee. So, there's nothing extra for those apps. Attorneys also do not charge for these apps.( may be your attorney is different?)

Today I was able to add my cases to MyPortfolio and all the status shows to Initial Review.
So looks like it is taking sometime to update online part.

    Thanks!

Thanks for the information. I don't understand why CIS would need us to fill in two applications and have two app numbers to be entered into DB and managed separately. Like, many other things that I don't understand

    May be for backward-compatibility reason.
Actually they both serve different purposes. I think as a F1 if you are applying for OPT card, you will still be using I-765.
Not everyone applies for EAD and AP at the same time.
    Here is some explanation.

Thanks! Basically, my point was, CIS could make that into one ALWAYS. Like, Bake the EAD and AP into one irrespective of whether a customer wants AP or EAD or both. It makes everyone's life easy, including CIS's.

Is there a way we can capture all these dates in a shareable spreadsheet on google docs?

    The columns can be:
User ID;PD;485 Mailing Date;Notice date;FP Notice Recd dt;FP Date;EAD Recd Dt; AP Recd Dt; GC approved dt;GC recd dt

Mods - can you please look in to this?

  22. #97
    - Receipts these days are going both to the applicant and the attorney. Both copies are original and are being designated as customer & attorney copy.
    - There is a generic issue of PD not being shown correctly on the dependent receipts.
    - These receipts to the applicant take 5 days to come by snail mail from the time of check encashing , check encashing takes 5-6 days from the date of receipt.
    - Looks like 7.5 cases will be filed from EB2 I/C alone so things will be a lot slower.
    - My own case RD 02/11, ND – 07/11, Checks – 08/11, Receipts – 13/11 (1 missing I had to call USCIS).

  23. #98
I had registered my receipt notices on the USCIS case status system (ND - 09Nov). I see a soft LUD on 11/15 - could be an indication that the FP notices are being generated.

My I-485 application was delivered on Nov 8 to the Dallas lock box. Haven't got the receipt yet, but from the rest of the posts, it looks like it is going to take another week at least, so I will bide my time patiently.... I'm a little ticked off at my lawyer. I was trying to push him to file earlier and got the docs to him early, but he still filed a week late. Oh well, better to file it correctly than quickly....
