    Summer Internship

    Hi,
I wanted to know the procedure/documents/visa required to do summer internship in US for a person studying in India.

One of my nieces is doing MBA in India and she wants to do her summer internship in US and she told me that just a letter from a company is sufficient to apply for visa, however I think one may need more docs. If any one knows about the procedure- please let me know.

    Thanks

The closest I can think of is possibly a J1 exchange student visa. But that too is meant for attending a semester in a US university rather than do internship. So most likely the answer is 'it's not possible.'
    I hope I am wrong.

'Internships' and 'Externships' are possible on visitors visa, provided an institution extends an 'Invitation' to a subject. This is very informal and the visa officer usually does not take such offers seriously.
A more serious offer is a J1 exchange visitor programs ( which are usually paid positions) that are given serious consideration by the visa officers.
