DL extension with I-485 pending

My H1 expires this month end. The extension application is submitted but not sure if I'll get it before my DL expires this month end. Accordingly my DL also expires this month end (CA law)
My I-485 pending since Jan-2012 but I have EAD (renewed and valid until 2015 Feb).
Can someone suggest, if I can get my DL renewed based on EAD? Will it affect my current status of H1 or the I-485 adjudication in anyway?
If I take my EAD card to DMV office, is that sufficient or do I need to take my PP/I-94 also?

You can extend your DL based on EAD. You need to take your original EAD CARD and your passport. Although your passport generally becomes part of the 6-pts that are required. Remember to take the card and not the 797 approval. You can always call up your DMV and ask them too.

DL extension has no bearing on what USCIS does with your other applications. The DMV just wants to see if you are legal in the country and the date that expires.
