Thanks for all the discussion you have had on this forum. It's a great source of knowledge and one that is not easily found elsewhere. The discussions here are civil and everyone all around is ready to help. Keep up the good work !

Q - thanks for maintaining this forum ! Also its been a while you have posted poetry, do continue those when you get time

For those who are still waiting, don't lose hope, things do seem to be moving along

Many congratulations! Here is a bit of poetry for you ....

    Lyrics: Kaifi Azmi
    Movie: Hanste Jakhm
    Composer: Madan Mohan
    Singer: Lata

Getting a GC is great. But the time lost, the opportunities lost, perhaps sometimes the costs are too much. But hey cheer up ... all is well that ends well.

    Hi Everyone,

I wanted to share that we received our approval email notifications today.
I have been a long time lurker and occasional poster in this forum. Its hard to say much when everything is said. I really want to extend my thanks and gratitude to everyone here. Q, Spec, and so many others continue to help everyone, for no selfish interest, just to help others. We are in this together.

Anyone I do meet who is more recent in this journey, the only thing I repeatedly say to them is to get their docs in order ( birth certificate etc especially ). When you need it, you dont have time for it, so get it done as soon as you can. We have been waiting for the boat to arrive for so long that you really don't want to miss it because of those pesky details.

    Personal Story:
I have been in the US since Fall 2001 when I arrived for my MS. Till much much later, I didn't ever bother about green card, saying will apply for it when I move to my long term job, after marriage etc.. While others around who had more knowledge and foresight did what was necessary and have since long long back, settled and moved on with life, sponsored their parents etc. These things require decisiveness and we cannot let the what-ifs hold us back. Our PERM was only applied late in the 6th year of H-1B, We were literally counting days and packing up/selling off stuff to move back. Just 10 days before the 6 year expired did the PERM get approved. Subsequently the I-140 got approved in premium and we were able to apply for the H-1B extension exactly a day before our H-1B end date. Not to mention the countless Drivers license issues around that and other periods. The one right thing we did is have our Birth Certificates in order in late 2011. That helped us to file timely in 2012.

I really want thank everyone again. Hope our paths do cross in real life.

    Congrats!!

Don't worry. You are not alone with indecisiveness. I came in Fall' 1999 for my MS. Similar delay as yours. PERM was applied after by H1B expired and at end of 2009 (had to convert to F1 Visa and work on CPT attending in-person classes in evenings/weekends). Replied back to my RFE and still don't have the card in my hand. You are a step ahead of me.

I was just watching Boman Irani say on Kapil Sharma show that as we age we can easily tear up. My heart became heavy reading your story. If for nothing else for the reason that I came to US in 2000 and got my GC in 2011 and thought that was too late because some of my other friends were approved in 2003.

On some level - though life is fair and in unforeseen ways it makes up for the unfair part. I am really glad for you Neel. I wish you the very best in life ahead.

Congratulations NeelVohra! Your personal story is indeed a story of perseverance!!

We share two things in common. We both came to US as students in the same year (even the same month I believe), and we both got our GCs approved in the same month and year twenty years later! I, myself continued studying for the first six years and only cared about GC when I landed my dream job. Back in 2001, George Bush was in his first year of presidency. Last month, he released his wonderful book on America's immigrants titled, "Out of Many, One: Portraits of America's Immigrants". The books contains 40+ stories and portraits painted by President Bush himself. Each and every immigrant story in the book is unique and inspiring.

    New card is being produced.

Finally after 14 years, Green card journey has come to an end. My application status changed "New card is being produced"

Here is some of the information that could help others track.

    PD: 3/18/2010

    RD: 03/05/2012
    RFE: 04/14/2021

06/09/2021: New card is being produced. I had no clue about immigration when I came here 14 years, couldn't understand any of the long emails people write regarding calculations 10 years back. This forum along with whereismygc has been extremely helpful in navigating through this maze and give readers some hope "Ek Din Apna number be Ayega".

Thanks and wish everyone best of luck!!

    Congratulations. Enjoy the green life.
