    Lightbulb EAD renewal

    Hello,

My EAD expires in feb of next year. How soon can we apply for a renewal? Also, how long does it normally take to get a new one? Sorry for posting in this thread. Can anyone point me to the appropriate forum?

    Thanks!

    EAD renewal

    Hi,

My current EAD is valid till Jan 15 2013 and would like to renew EAD/AP. Per I-765 form there shouldn't be any USCIS fee as I have applied for 485 in Dec 2011. I have checked with employer and he mentioned it's actually not clear and we have to pay USCIS fee.

Also I heard renewing EAD/AP is quite simple and can be done without the help of attorney. Did anyone recently renew his/her EAD?

    Please advice

    Thanks

You absolutely do not have to pay the USCIS fee if you applied under the new fee structure.

You do have to prove that you are entitled to the fee exemption by enclosing a copy of your I-485 receipt.

From the latest EAD Instructions (page 8) :

Renewal EAD: If this is a renewal application and you are applying under one of the following categories, a filing fee is not required:

    1. (a)(8) .......

    2. (a)(10) ......

    3. (c)(1), (c)(4) or (c)(7) .......

    4. (c)(9) or (c)(16) Adjustment applicant who applied after July 30,2007.
    You are applying under (c)(9).

Spec, how easy is the renewal process? Can I do it by myself or I need to go through the lawyer?

There is no requirement to use a lawyer.

It appears to be quite straightforward, but I have no personal experience.

EAD/AP Combo Cards now come with a small sheet of paper with necessary information printed for renewal. I have not personally renewed my EAD - but I am told that the process is quite simple, fast and no fees are required. No need for a lawyer.

    EAD/AP renewal

    Hi,

    Sorry for the naive question!

I am in a process of filing EAD/AP renewal by myself and have few questions:

    1. I live and work in Illinois so as per USCIS site I have to dispatch the documents to USCIS Phoenix Lockbox. Correct?

For U.S. Postal Service (USPS) deliveries:

    USCIS
    PO Box 21281
    Phoenix, AZ 85036

For Express mail and courier deliveries:

    USCIS
    Attn: AOS
    1820 E. Skyharbor Circle S
    Suite 100
    Phoenix, AZ 85034

    2. In the cover letter which USCIS address shall I mention? Phoenix lockbox or Nebraska service center

    NEBRASKA SERVICE CENTER
    U.S. CITIZENSHIP & IMMIG SERVICE
    P.O. Box 82521
    LINCOLN, NE 68501-2521

    Please advise.

Can you share the information about the documents you are planning to send?
Are you sending all documents EAD/AP (Primary and spouse) together in one envelope to the lock box address?
Also regarding the status question on I 765 do we need to put as H1B or AOS if primary is still on H1B?
Can you please share the template of cover letter you mentioned? Do we need to have one cover letter per application i.e 4 cover letters (EAD/AP for primary and spouse)?

    I appreciate your responses.

    Thanks,

Haven't got around to my renewal yet as I can't apply until early November, but the one thing I can tell you is that you ought to be sending this out ASAP as it can take them over 90 days to process (given the numbers they're going to have to process). You don't need to pay for renewal, get your wife to mail the renewal application to you right away and send both in one packet from here. I would attach a cover letter, although i'm sure they'd know to process it even if you don't attach one.

Isn't class of admission either H1B/H4 (if you last entered the US on your visa) or 'Parolee' as stated in the entry stamp?

AP renewal while out of country

    Hi,

my wife's EAD/AP expires on 01/26/2013. She is currently in India. I am planning to apply for her EAD/AP renewal now. Just want to see if you are aware of any special instructions that I need to follow or any potential issues that can happen in this case.

    Thank you in advance.

Folks - I have a question regarding EAD/AP renewal. The EAD/AP for my wife and I is valid until the second week of April, 2013. We are set to travel to India in mid December and return to US in mid January. We will have a week or so before we leave for India in December when we will be eligible to apply for EAD/AP renewal. Do you know if it's safe to apply for EAD/AP renewal and leave the country when the renewal is in process? We are planning to use the current AP document at the POE when we return in mid January since it will still be valid.

Thanks in advance for your help.

After some googling....and going through a lot of threads i filled up the information based on the status i entered the country last.
Some threads do mention the possibility of entering the current status as class of admission.

    Lets see how it goes.
Also template letters can be easily found with any search engine.

    Thanks Pedro.

I just sent my papers for EAD renewal. I think I followed right instrutions. Below is the list of documents submitted and my tips. Most part I filled in I-765, and I-131 forms from my last lawfirm sent pages.

    1. Two 2X2 ID photos taken in the last 30 days.
    2. Original copy of last EAD/AP card mailer (this is the paper which your last EAD was attached on). This paper contains A#. Use that number on I-765, and I-131 forms.
    3. I-765 application (download from www.uscis.gov/i-765).
    4. I-131 application (download from www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-131.pdf).
    5. Copy of current EAD/AP Card front and back (I color coped back first, and used that paper and the front of the EAD card to make both sides appear on same page).
    6. Copy of I-797C for I-485 Application acceptance notice.
    7. Copy of Last I-765 approval notice.
    8. Copy of I-94 front and back copies (actually not needed, but just sent it)
    9. Copy of Passport ID Page.

Sent it to address give on page 10 of form from www.uscis.gov/i-765 (download instructions for form I-765). Sent in Express mail to Luisville, TX address.
