:)RMS that theory got negated a long time ago. Teddy made this prediction in December itself that processing centres will do the processing irrespective of PD due to the rapid movement. Also early FP will be an additional curveball....luck plays a major role too.If the applicant gets an easy going officer even with late registered BC the file could approved if it is in pre-adjudicated queue. All it takes to get into the Pre-adjudicated queue is passing through Fingerprinting/Name check.
I will not be surprised to see more Jan filers get approved in early March.
I received my 485 receipt last week, My RD is 14-Feb. I am still not able to search my case in USCIS. Does it really take this long?
Dont worry you will get it soon and will be able to soon visit your kid . I feel your pain with respect to FP and I am in the same boat ( did mine on the assigned day after 1 1/2 month later after receipt of the application ) .
Anywaz lets just pray the visas last and the files reach an L2 officer.
Congrats frenzyrider and nagana!
Just a thought, sharing with you guys.
One thing I learnt in this process, or rather I should say realized, I tried all avenues, thought out of the box, pro-active, and took advantage of whatever non-ordinary opportunities present in this process. This is what I coined myself whence driving onto work next day after green card.
"Don't fear to walk away from the straight path to go into the right direction."
The path you originally walk on maybe straight, paved, with comfortable pit stops and rest areas. But it may not be the right direction. For the right direction, one should deviate from this straight path, go off road, feel the adventure, take the risks, and he shall find that the correct milestones were only on this one, the road less traveled, the path less beaten!
Nishant,
Thanks for reminding one of my favorite poems.
I strongly believe in follow your heart.. don't burden yourself in tesnion and "what will happen ?" .. :)

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim
Because it was grassy and wanted wear,
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I marked the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

I filed my case on Feb 2nd and I started seeing my case status for all 3 receipts starting Feb 26th.
Codesmith , are you from TN? Road not taken ?
Kanmani,
I don't know if I understood the question ..
Do you mean Tennessee or Tamilnadu :) or ?
Usernameisnotvalid,
From your PD I am guessing that you applied sometime in Feb. Mine was received on 2/1 and still the receipt numbers dont work. What was your receipt date?
Thanks
My PD is 10/16/2009. My receipt date is 2/2 and Notice date is 2/8.
Thanks.
What is your service center?
TSC (Texas Receipt numbers start with SRC****** ) or NSC (Nebraska - LIN****). NSC is quick in updating online systems but late in issuing FP notices. TSC is vice versa and that is why I have FP notice but no online status thingy.
I filed with TSC
Funny thing is I still don't have my receipts , I know my # s from my lawyer who got it and the first ever status that I saw was "post office returned the mails saying undeliverable and it could have serious effects on processing of your case". So in reality I ended up getting more "anxiety attacks" :). I was little relieved when I got my FP notice yesterday after I put bigger name labels on my mailbox.
FP appt: 3/22
SunnyAround,
So it seems like they activated your receipts earlier but didn't send you the notice and followed the FIFO in assigning FP slot. I am presuming Usernameisnotvalid's envelope made it a few minutes ahead of mine on 2/1 (costing me no less than 7 days). Hopefully all 3 of us would be low hanging fruit and be done with these anxious days/months soon.
I don't know. My wife's and daughter's apps were submitted same day and they have same RDs as mine but FP appointment for them is on 3/14 (although in their case I am planning to do early walk-in when I go there on 3/7)
It seems Mr. Heisenberg at USCIS is processing our apps :-). No certainty!
This is one of my all time favorite... I also love the book with the same title 'Road Less Traveled' by Scott Peck.
Usernameisnotvalid,
Sometimes I wonder if USCIS/DOS/CO/Consulate employees have a secret blog of their own and every once in a while when it gets quiet out here they do something random/out of whack and then have a blast over it by quoting all the flutter their action generated here, on trackitt and other forums. Maybe they have a winner of the day award for the freak who can come up with the most convoluted logic of interpreting procedures/manuals to do something that throws the calculation of all the gurus out of the window and the one who baffles the most gets a "employee of the day" or something.....Sick bastards
Well this forum is definitely way lucky for me.
Last time I posted something, I got my FP notices in postal mail in the evening. After a busy lull period I again posted something today and EAD card production SMS and emails, without FP (scheduled for tomm).
Kanmani,
I do agree that this is a possibility. If that is the case how some of our friends are able to opt for an early walk-in?
Heard its getting embarassing for some at ours (Jersey) as well. One of my colleagues witnessed someone having not such a good time at the hands of the supervisor ..... it was quite audible with no attempt to spare the embarassment to the "smart one". Apparently so many people showed up there with "compelling reasons" to "check if it was possible to prepopone" that even the halfwits figured that there was a trend there and have started dishing it out aplenty. Whatever little desire I had towards attempting the same vanished after hearing the details.....somethings are just not worth it.
