Congratulation to incredible, suninphx, Umesh1209, 19YRSNOGC, VR_EB2_052010, jackbrown_890, Pundit Arjun and idliman! It's so great to see a flurry of approvals.
Hi Idli -
I am very happy for you! All is well that ends well. Many congratulations!!
I sure hope to see you around - but only to the extent it makes you happy. If I run this forum - it's only because it gives me satisfaction to see people getting green and live worry-free until they get one. Have fun tonight!!
Hi Friends,
I am happy to report that today we received our green cards in mail. When I looked at my GC, I couldn't believe that I waited for that small piece of plastic for more than a decade. As such, I was eligible for EB1, being a university professor. But once the university sponsored my GC in EB2 category, they didn't want to spend money again, and I also didn’t care much, since I already had the EAD/AP card, and never thought it would take so long in the first place. Well, it doesn't matter anymore.
The GC doesn't bring any new benefits to me in my professional career, as my livelihood doesn't depend on my job anymore. I also love my current job, plus it comes with the lifetime guarantee due to the "tenured" status. But the GC will definitely help in my personal endeavours. Since my job comes with three months summer holidays and one month winter holidays, I plan to spend 4 months in India with my mom and remaining eight months in the US annually from now on. This will be a great exposure to India for kids as well before they go to middle school.
I have been on Q's forum since its inception, and can't thank Q enough for creating this wonderful platform. Also a special thanks goes to "Spectator" for providing us accurate predictions over the years through his unique data crunching abilities. Finally, I also like to thank all kind souls on this forum who contribute to the forum by helping each other. More recently, idli is doing a great job.
I wish you all the best in your own green card journey! Next 1-2 years belong to us!
@vedu and @idliman, congratulations on getting Greened!! Hope all the best for your future! It's been a long time coming and well deserved. I personally know a couple of friends who got greened recently and both had the same to say. "Yeah, we are happy but mostly relieved that the wait is done". It's a shame that us (the Indian nationals) do not get to experience the pure happiness ROW folks feel when they hear the same news. Do keep visiting this forum and imparting your words of wisdom for the newer members who happen to stumble upon this great platform.
Congratulations Vedu. Happy for you!!!
Congratulations vedu. Glad that you are tenured. Having spent 13+ years in industry after graduating, I can't put up with 16 hour grad school work days anymore. That boat had sailed. I envy what you have achieved. Not many can proudly say that "T" word.
I would like to contribute somehow to increase knowledge in our field especially on the technology side. But will be a challenge to do it without getting into IP and being originally from a sensitve country in the DOE world.
Congrats Vedu. Very happy for you. All the best for future life and career.
Congrats @idliman, @vedu!! Good to see some approvals trickling in.
Congratulation Idliman & Vedu.
I've been a bit remiss in signing in and have missed many posts.
Congratulations to:
Umesh1209
19YSNOGC
jackbrown_890
Pundit Arjun
idliman
vedu
and anyone else I might have missed on your GC approvals.
I'm really happy for everyone, yet sad at the same time that you have had to wait so long.
Apologies this isn't a little more personal to those who have made wonderful contributions to the forum over the years.
I'll have to be a bit more attentive!!
Spec
Looky looky who is a bit sentimental. I just want you (Spec) and everybody else to know I have exact same feelings. We don't even know each other personally. But it's the shared pain and experience that makes us bond with each other.
Spec - I just want you to know that I feel truly happy whenever I see your post - howsoever long gap goes in between.
Thank you incredible, vsivarama, Mgajsk, suninphx, Transformer, AceMan, idliman, abcx13, Q, tenyearsgone, Noesis, 2011Feb, and Spec!
Despite all our doubts, things are kicking in high gear at the USCIS offices. I have a strong feeling that this express train won't stop until all the pending inventory in at least 2010, 2011, and 2012 will be completely exhausted in the next year or so. In my case, got the RFE on the 14th day of PD becoming current and after submission of RFE response, it literally took more time for USPS to deliver the card than USCIS to approve it. The momentum is for real!
Thanks Idli, I hear you, my friend. Our profiles are similar in more ways than different. Industry vs. academic career, both have their pros and cons. Things are not always hunky dory in the ivory tower.
Our GC journey timeline is also pretty similar. It's time to revitalize the "Life after Green card" thread. I am looking forward to your posts on N-400, etc.
Completely agree with you Q.
Now that the action has started once again, I see lots of new members creating accounts and posting on the forum. But they have no idea what a legend Spec was/is! There were times when we would rather listen to his predictions that Charlie Oppenheim himself. But as the data become less and less available, so is Spec. :( And you are no less! Your original thread on IV in 2009 had such a massive following! That was pretty much the only thing happening on IV those days. And when you started this new forum, I immediately followed you here. For the first time, I see the same enthusiasm on the forum as I have seen in the 2009-2010 time frame.
Many great people were here before, and many new great people will join in future. The show must go on!
Congratulations Vedu! Enjoy your new stage in life! This feeling is the same as college graduation! The only difference is, while graduation used to be tinged with a bit sadness that many of us might not see each other again, I dont get that on this forum, since I see long time greened folks continue to stay around to show the ways around immigration (and other stuff)...
Hello Friends,
Happy to report my case status changed to New Card is Being Produced. Praying for everyone who is still current.
EB2 India, PD: 04/28/2010
RFE Received date: March 31st, 2021
RFE Response received date: May 6th, 2021
New Card is being produced: May 14th, 2021
Vedu - thanks for your kind words. Yes we started on IV and within 6 months I believe moved to this place. There are some sordid details around me and IV but it is wholly unnecessary to talk about them. What is important is that Indians are still being discriminated against based on country caps. And that's why this blog will continue to do its tiny bit of work to help people.
I never knew you are an academic. What do you teach if I may ask? Imdeng is an academic too.
Also not sure if Idli too is in the same line?
Q - I am familiar with your fall out with IV leadership at that time, but you should actually thank them. That fall out is the reason now we have this wonderful independent forum.
I was aware that Imdeng is also an academic. My field is Systems Engineering. I believe Idli has not one, but two PhDs. One is in his own field and other one is of course in immigration matters! :)
Vedu - IV should be thankful that my thread gave them a boost. I don't have anything to thank them frankly. I am thankful to many people on this forum whose wise posts have enriched my life (and hopefully others' too).
I always wanted to do a PHD but my interests kept changing :) I guess that is not quite conducive to going deep into anything.
Congrats Vedu and Wiz, enjoy the green life..
