Good News!!!! My status just changed to New card is being produced for AP but for EAD still shows "Fingerprint were taken". What's up with that ?
EB2-I PD May 22,2009
Filed : 10/07/2019
Finger printing : 11/07/2019
AP New card being produced : 12/20/2019
EAD : Still shows finger prints were taken.
Many congratulations lville. That's a long time to wait for GC. I missed 2 GC PDs one in 2003 (stubborn HR) and then in 2005 (jerk manager) and then got approved on 2007 date in 2011. If PD was 2003 I would have been approved in 2003. If 2005, likely would have been approved in 2008/9. Between you and me the difference is just 2 years, and you had to wait until 2019. This is so unjust. But every thing is well that ends well!!
That's a difficult question to answer but I will take a shot at it
1. At the current rate it could take 5-6 years(2 months movement per year).
2. If there is a change in immigration law to help the most backlogged countries, it could happen in a year or two(nothing is guaranteed, there is one in process which will help India).
3. If there is a recession which could lead to a slow down in ROW perms and approval, there could be a significant spillover which would hep EB-India(2-3 years).
So in a nutshell anywhere from 2 - 5 years, plan accordingly. Having a EAD helps, hope you did apply for it when you were current.
Finally got greened!! Came to US in 2001 and filed for green card in 2009. Thanks to the immigration law firm, it was postponed from 2007 to 2009. Not sure if it was worth the wait!! Anyways relieved now. Many thanks to the forum for keeping my sanity. Good luck to those waiting.
20 years in this country and when I actually got the card being produced message, it feels as if nothing changed. Go figure.
Tried to apply in 2007, firm's lawyer insisted on applying in EB3. All I knew at the time was it would it take forever so I declined (did not know porting was an option -LOL) Then applied in EB2 with the same firm and same lawyer in the thick of recession in 2009, got hit with a PERM audit that took two years to clear. Then switched to EAD in a few years and had issues renewing EAD and AP cards and at one time did not have AP to travel to see a sick parent; had to expedite and stress about it. Expediting did not work; so missed out on spending time with family in India.
My two cents:
Without a major change in the immigration process (like elimination of country cap; not counting family members towards annual limit etc), EB India will remain in a quagmire. If you HAVE options, young family etc, re-think if GC is the thing you need to wait for. The current administration if they have their way will look to further tighten the immigration. Add to this, the continuous exploitation (by desis and increasingly others) of all the loopholes in the system will forever keep the EB categories backlogged.
I have a lot more to say, but like I said ...my two cents. So long...
Congratulations Vyruss ! The circus goes on.... From one Q to another i.e. from GC Q to Citizenship Q ;)
Congratulations Vyruss!!!!
I have good news to share.
My status just changed to "New Card is Being Produced".
I can barely believe it.
Thanks Q. I am probably one the oldest-tenure members here except for like you and Spec. You all have been such a pillar of strength for me and so many others. Thank You!
It has been some journey. Came to the country in June 2003, three graduate degrees between the two of us, filed PERM in 2009, EAD/AP in the glorious days of 2012, RFEs in 2014, 2016, 2018, major panic about BC in the middle, one job change and accompanying I-485J madness, three apartments, two houses, cutest boy-girl twins you will ever see! Finally, after 17 years in the country, we have the legal right to stay in the country - even if we lost our jobs.
Right now I am missing all the old timers in the forum who are no longer active here - folks like Kanmani, Veni, Teddy...
Once again congratulations imdeng!!!
imdeng,
I'm so pleased to hear this news!!
As Q said, let yourself revel in the moment, at least for a little bit.
Although some time a ago now, I still remember the feeling of hearing about the approval.
Thanks for all your contributions to the forum. I hope they continue.
Spec - you never told us about your own approval. Don't mean to intrude your privacy. But quite a belated congratulations are in the offing for you! Congrats. People often think you and I are the same people and I just want to say there is one and only Spectator! And it's not me.
Congrats to both imdeng and Spec!
Thanks Vedu, Sun, abc, Mesan, Arjun, Sri!
We are having quite a reunion of old-timers here today - and I am glad to be the catalyst.
Imdeng!!!
Heartiest congratulations buddy :) (insert several dancing banana smileys here).
This has been long, long overdue...going way back in the memory lane here. Finally, the journey's over. I will pop a bottle of beer for you (means I will drink two ;)).
