Word of Caution! Address Change!
Hi Guys,
Just a word of caution for those who have moved since filing I-485 and it is pending.
I moved while my I-485 was pending and filed an AR-11 online, I also made sure that I updated my address on my pending I-485. I received confirmation of change both via email and postal mail. All well and good.
I was lucky that my RFE's were sent to my new address and we responded in time.
I got approved recently and got the CPO email with USPS tracking number. The funny thing about USPS tracking is that when you track your mail, it doesn't tell you the destination city as FedEx or UPS. To my surprise when I checked the tracking on the day it was supposed to be delivered, I found out that they shipped the cards to my old address. I thought, oh no problem they will just return it to USCIS because I have mail forwarding setup (been less than a year). But nope, USPS delivered it to my old address, regardless of the fact that I had mail forwarding. I was lucky that I know the tenant at my old address and was able to ask him to ship me the cards.
I didn't dig deeper into why this happened. But I have heard this happen to several people. So I would suggest you call USPS to confirm delivery address when you get your CPO email with USPS tracking and if you have moved since filing I-485.
