Restrictions on the entire green card process
Gurus,
After reading all informative threads here, we get coverage of most of the dilemmas that make up our lives. Thank you for this dedication to our real-life.
Raising one additional questions relating to AC21
I am the primary on the GC process, been with the same co that filed my PERM. What happens when the primary applicant (specifically women) wants to take time off DURING the 1-485 wait? My PD is 5/1/2009 and we all know what a happy occasion that has turned out to be as of FY2014. I am this close, but "this" may be another year....meanwhile life is a-calling.
Some of the options I have identified are:
1. Convert to consular processing speed and wait it out in India (which according to a few threads here should be the last option)
2. Take a sabbatical for a year till June 2015 when the results of the visa bulletin will be satisfactory; come back to the same job then for receipt of GC - that way I will be in the same job as when I had applied PERM (no salary for a year and no position, but active in co directory)
3. Take a transfer but continue working for the company from offsite (this may not be possible as the co is US based and mostly geo-specific)
4. Quit current job to manage requirements on my personal life - will this cancel all dependent chances for GC?
5. Flex-work from home with lower pay, but mostly change in job description. For example I go from Auditor to Marketing Manager doing campaigns and events
Would you tell me your experience or advice on the wait-it-out that I may not be able to afford personally?
Truly a case of "Light at the end of tunnel is not the promised land, it is Weehawken NJ!!" Thank you again for discussing various options with us.
My best!
