Question regarding H1 renewal beyond 9th year, change of job with no 485 filed yet

Friends,
Here is my story

Employed with company A in a IT role, GC process status, EB2-India, Priority date :Aug 13 2010, I-140 approved, no I-485 yet
Highest Education: US Masters of Science in Engineering
H1 status: 9th year expiring on Nov 21 2014, Company A has begun H1 renewal process

Currently pursuing MBA (part time) from a top 15 school, and will graduate within the year. The problem is I become eligible to participate in On Campus Recruiting beginning Sept 2014. This means I can find a job through university or or on my own using my upcoming MBA degree by the end of 2014.

Question
How should I proceed to move to another job using my MBA, this would mean career progression, as I am stuck in the same position for more than 4 years. Can I go for non technical positions, or should it be related to my current technical job?
Will I be able to port my I-140 with the 2010 PD?, and if i transfer my H1, will I be receiving a 3 year extension?

derek - I can't answer the H1 question but regarding career change here are my thoughts.

A) The whole reason you so passionately pursued MBA means you want to be in that line of career.
B) College is the best place to land an MBA suitable job.
C) Most likely your GC is 2 years away based on your date.
D) So based on ABC if I were you I would take a new job who would sponsor my GC. I can retain my PD and yet be able to do switch.

But I am not sure if your H1 situation will allow you to transfer and all. Perhaps others can tell you that. Good luck!

Thanks for that response Q. I am close to 4 years of my PD, and then you see people getting their GCs in 3-4 yrs.It's so frustrating that I dont have an option of even a 485 filed that could come handy when i switch jobs. This GC things screws up careers and emotions!

Derek - your path forward is simple. Get the best job you can that will file for GC. Large consulting companies are usually a good bet. Considering your PD, you are a couple years away. Until then keep your nose clean and focus on your job.

As Q has often mentioned, and I support it, you should not let go of good career opportunities for GC concerns. GC will sort itself out - but the time lost in your career will never come back. If it makes you feel any better - your case is far from the worst one. I myself have finished 11 years in US - and will likely not be current until next year. A wait of 5 year post PD is the norm for EB2I.

derek - a lot of people on this forum echo your feelings. That's a whole reason why we started this forum. The EB2I times of 3-4 year wait are unfortunately no longer true. EB2I should be prepared for 5-6 years wait.
