वोह तेरी याद थी अब याद आया (It was your thought. I didn't realize it until now)

आज मुश्किल था संभलना ए दोस्त (It is difficult to keep the composure my friend)
तो मुसिबत में तू अजब याद आया (When times are tough then I can only think of you)

हाल ए दिल हम भी सुनाते लेकिन (I too would have poured my heart out .... but)
जब वोह रुखसत हुए तब याद आया (it only occurred to me after (s)he left)

दिन गुजारा था बडी मुश्किल से (I spent the day in agony)
फिर तेरा वादा-ए-शब याद आया (And then at night remembered all your promises (which made the night worse)

बैठ कर साया-ए-गुल्म-ए-नासीर (Oh Nasir (poet making self reference) as I sat in the shade of a (small) tree)
हम बहोत रोये वोह जब याद आया ( I remembered him/her and cried)

वोह तेरी याद थी अब याद आया (It was your thought. I didn't realize it until now)

दिल धडकने का सबब याद आया (That made my heart beat a bit faster)
