Mistakes in Birth Certificate or Other Documents

Guru's , I have a question reg filing of 485, specifically form 325A (for biometrics).

My father's name on my passport and birth certificate is spelt as "K. Victor" (Name changed. Assume Victor is his first name). My mother's name first and last name is clearly spelled out in both my passport and birth certificate.

While filling form 325A form, under Father's last name do I expand K. as Kilo ? (just an example). Or leave it as K. so that it matches my passport and birth certificate.
for my mother, I spelt out both the first and last name, since my passport and birth certificate has them.

Im trying to avoid an RFE reg my father's last name, since he is no more it is not possible to get any affidavit.

Please move this to another thread if appropriate

seattlet, i have answered similar questions in the past. My personal experience is that American system works fairly with common sense. They understand abbreviations etc and so will most likely not object if all other things match.

Coming from India we are so much used to babugiri (like dadagiri) that we are scared with slightest deviations. So my advice is that do the right things and most likely they will apply common sense (quite a good chance). But if they genuinely won't understand something then they will issue an RFE. So don't fret over name variations.

p.s. - My fathers name ends with "rao" but I sometime use it without "rao" or sometimes use only the first letter. Never had an issue.

Thanks Spec. the reason I had asked is that my colleague next seat got an RFE since his birth certificate had initials for his fathers first and middle name (where his passport had the entire last name) He had to get a affidavit from his father reg that. This also caused him to miss the boat last year, since by the time the RFE was responded, visa numbers got exhausted.
