Sorry for posting my question in this thread, but doing so as the other one seems to be dead.

My PD is Sep 29th 2008 and applied for AOS in Jan 2012. As Spec's calculations seem to indicate I may not be receiving my GC till Oct-Dec 2013 (more than 1 year from now), I am deperate to switch jobs as soon as my 180 day period is Over (I will be independnt on Jul 4th!!! :):) )

When my labor was filed the job duties were advertised as a PM specific to a legacy system/technology. My question is can I switch jobs as a General PM (not specific to any technology)? Will that be considered similar or I have to stick to the legacy technology till I get my GC? Any response will be highly appreciated. Its been really frustating to be stuck at just 1 position and salary (almost) for past 5 years on the excuse of we cant do anything as your GC is pending and you are stuck to us on H1. My employer is one of the blood sucking medium Indian IT companies, who think the h1/l1 employees are their slaves.

La20, all employers are pretty much bloodsuckers as far as H1/L1 is considered.

To your question - Legacy vs non-Legacy shouldn't matter - as long as you are still working as PM in IT field. The other job should be considered similar and AC21 should apply easily.

Your 180 days period will end on June 28th if your I-485 RD is January 1st 2012, Is there anything else I am missing ?

It should be Jul 4th !! Edited my post
