Urgent help needed: EAD/AP renewal receipt notice not received

Sorry for posting here. Will move to an apt folder once I receive responses.

I sent in my EAD/AP renewal applications on Jul 29th and USPS tracking says that my packet reached on Jul 31 to USCIS. I still haven’t received any receipt number by physical mail or by email (I also filed G1145). My EAD expired on Aug 10( I am on H1B , so status is not an issue for now). My priority date is November 2009 and EB2I category.

Is this common to take this long for the receipt of the receipt number ? If not, what options do I have (such as resending the package etc..). I couldn’t file before the end of July as I had to travel to India in June/July and I read somewhere that you can’t travel outside the country while EAD/AP applications are in process.

I applied for my wife's EAD renewal on June 12th, received the notice after a month on July 21st, approved after 180 days, will receive the physical cards in the mail by tomorrow since I received the update that they have been mailed yesterday. Hope this helps, it is taking way longer to renew EAD/AP these days, so apply on the first day when you are eligible.

I read the renewal fee is included in the 485 AOS fee , but want to make sure before i send my package to USCIS

Look at PDF page 23 & 24 of 27 of Form I-765 Instructions. PDF is in USCIS web site.


Renewal EAD. If this is a renewal application and you are applying under one of the following categories, a filing fee is not required for:

4. (c)(9) or (c)(16) Any current Adjustment of Status or Registry applicant who filed for adjustment of status on or after July 30, 2007, and paid the appropriate Form I-485 filing fee. If you file Form I-765 separately from your Form I-485, you must also submit a copy of your Form I-797C Notice for Form I-485, as evidence of filing Form I-485 on or after July 30, 2007, and payment of the appropriate form filing fee. If you did not pay the appropriate Form I-485 filing fee because your filing fee was waived or you are exempt from paying it, you must pay the Form I-765 filing fee or request that the filing fee be waived.

In short under normal circumstances you do not need to pay fee for renewing EAD.

Thank you , i wanted to make sure , with USCIS taking 6 months these days don't want to take chances.
And whenever i hear USCIS does not require fee , i want to pinch myself :)
