Hello Folks,
Finding an employer to sponsor or transfer H1b is challenging nowadays especially in the TECH field. Even when few firms are ready to do so, once they find an applicant is from a green card backlog country, the Recruiters push back from proceeeding with the interview process.

Had anyone with country of birth from India and China went throught this experience? Isn't is frustating being discriminated this way or you think it's the firm's preroragative to do so. I had this experience recently and was not happy about it.

Yep, I experienced that too. But I am not sure if it's because I am from a GC backlogged country. I think the its about not wanting to sponsor H-1B. A facebook recruiter contacted me and when I mentioned about H1B sponsorship, I got a weird explanation why H1B transfer wont work at this time. In last few months I applied to a number of positions that I really liked and felt I would be a good fit and it didn't go anywhere... didnt even make it to technical round.

We see it all the time and everywhere. Being on a H1, its not easy to get a full time. And for a Employer it makes more sense in case they are hiring full times to go for a Citizen or a GC. But on the other side when they see profit they are outsourcing and those go to off shore firms and there for cost saving the offshore firms would not prefer a GC or Citizen. And people from India and China will be in this soup longer as they are the most backlogged countries. Unless the country caps are eliminated for employment based categories and the impact is felt equally by all, we can't say that employment recruitment is based on skills only. And I doubt anything is going to pass on the country caps, but my thoughts.

Hello!
Being discriminated because your country of birth India or China, or other backlogged country is terrible. The United States grants many people from China asylum, so can call to this company www.politicalasylumusa.com (http://www.politicalasylumusa.com) and they will help you with your visa and documents. I'm also from backlogged country and they helped me with green card. I advise this organization to everybody, because they really help people.
