Trump gets endorsement from Alabama senator - Jeff Sessions.
It was never in doubt if Trump presidency was good for legal immigrants. But this endorsement speaks volumes.

Its looks very likely that Trump will be the eventual nominee. Having said that for Republican party had this coming. For years they have been ultra nationalistic and portraying immigrants has the true villans. There leaders never stood up to people like Steve King and others. They have potrayed that nothing works in this country and compromise is a bad thing forgetting that the founding father's created checks and balanaces in the system for a reason. I am just amazed that the party that fought for abolishment of slavery and helped pass civil rights.has become a party of Trump , Sessions and Steve King.
Was watching Trump in the last debate. Like a shrewd businessman, he is changing his colors as he is closer to general election. From his early crazy statements early on in the campaign, he defended planned parenthood even though other GOP candidates attacked him on that. I think he knows general election voter mix is different from GOP primary and he is carefully adapting to it. When asked about contributing Charle's Schumer etc, he didn't care to answer that. It is interesting to see candidates can lie through primaries to general election and nobody seems to have an issue.

No surprise there. An anti immigrant is an anti immigrant. Legal - illegal are just convenient arguments. Trump supporters are quite often racist. They don't like browning of America.
That's why it is important for all backlogged immigrants to stand together and not bicker around who is more valued than others or who has better education and who deserves what etc.

Ironically I know so many Indians who supported Trump. They did so for two reasons - 1) His anti-muslim rhetoric resonated with them. 2) They thought he would support GC reforms and abolish country quota. The second is not happening anytime soon. The first was wrong then and is wrong now. The less the said the better.

I don't think (1) is correct for most Indians.
The most important reason I supported Trump is that Obama/Democrats could get nothing done for legals in 8 years. With both house and senate, was hoping Trump would do something. Was wrong.

I apologize. I didn't infer you in anyway when I made my first comment.
I am quite sure that a lot of Trump NRI supporters are BJP supporters and covert or overt Hindu Nationalists who are only happy to hear his anti-muslim rhetoric.
It is painful but true that discrimination 90% of the times is silent and can't be understood with clarity. If we look through history, most of the Germans that supported Nazis would never say they were anti-jew .... but the reality is they were complicit directly or indirectly. Most of the southern whites never thought themselves as racist even though south has such a clear history of racism.
I think the same is true with Trump supporters and the same is going to be true with BJP/VHP/RSS/Modi supporters. How do I know? Well I was one such Hindu Nationalist who participated in the 1992 Babri demolition. Only after coming to the US have I realize how useless the whole Hindu Nationalism is and how wrong it is to blame muslims for India's problems.

If they clear the GC backlogs with extra fee we will be ready to raise the 1 to 2 Billion as part of the extra fee easily.

Absolutely false.
On the contrary H1Bs alone can pay 3 Billions to USCIS if they prioritize GCs for backlog candidates. Its a BIG onetime fee but everyone will be ready to pay for faster EAD/GCs. And this is a NET ZERO migration effort as these are already in US and waiting in line. He has to check the USCIS balance sheet for last 10 years and he will know how many billions are paid by these H1B holders while waiting for GCs.

If we safely assume a 300K Visas need to be issued to clear the backlogs and put a one time fee of 10k which will generate 3 Billions in next 2 months in USCIS account.

Folks rest assured that EB reforms is the last priority within Immigration reform. And abolition of country quota is last of the last for a variety of reasons.
Please be realistic. The only way American system works is through legislation and litigation. We dont see much appetite for litigation. That leaves legislation as the only option. Legislation happens because people want it or corporations want it.
Do you really think American Corporations want abolition of country quota. That's incredibly hurtful to them. It makes the whole H1B ineffective. So no they don't want it.
Do you really think American people want it? The answer is most don't even understand it or don't care about country quota. But a lot of people DO CARE about foreigners taking up their jobs. So as much as Trump tweets .... the reality is his core base is dead against any kind of immigration - legal or otherwise.
I do think there is a great chance for DACA deal and possibly bigger immigration reform as part of current shutdown stalemate.
However you have to ask this very rationally to yourself - other than Indians stuck in the GC backlog, who gets benefited by making those Indians move faster in the GC queue. Only if you have a good coherent answer to this question then perhaps Trumps tweet has some merit.

I can understand that desis will be happy to pay the one time fee to fund the wall if that gives them GC faster. After all, that is our mentality - bribe our way in. This is the mindset from India because that is the only way things get done there. From the early stages of getting kids admitted to a good school, you pay a "donation", need a job- you catch a politician, need a file or permit passed from a gov't agency - pay "kharcha paani" from the peon all the way to the top guy to "move your file". Same mentality we are showing here.
My question is - why should we pay? Cos we were born in a certain country? After playing by all the rules, we are still stuck because of this broken system. I am myself waiting for my interview to be scheduled - who knows when that will happen...but why should we pay anything extra than what we r supposed to? Have you ever heard the DACA kids put up this offer? Since they have no pathway to a GC, shouldn't they be more willing? But they even rejected the bill which was helping them cos it was cutting legal immigration by half! Will we ever do anything like that? We fight among ourselves - EB1, EB2, EB3 even H1Bs oppose H4 EAD! This cut throat mentality is within us cos India is super competitive due to high population. We are taught to be like this from a very young age.
I can guarantee that if a bill comes out which says EB2I quota will be increased to 5k at the cost of decreasing EB3I quota by an equal number, most desis will jump to support the bill even though it will hurt EB3Is.
I have seen the worst when I was working to get H4 EAD done and was shocked to see the resistance coming mostly from H1Bs who feared that H4s will flood the IT market, bring their wages down and take away their jobs. That is pretty much our mentality and it shows here too.
Sorry for digressing..but the idea of us paying for the wall boils my blood.

In case you missed the President’s national address last night, he read from the following email to explain why he needs five billion of your tax dollars to begin work on the wall that he promised would be paid for by Mexico:
“Dear Senor Trump,
I Am Mexican Prince in charge of Wall payments to the United States of the America. As Prince of Mexico, I am authorized to providing to you many billions of American dollar to pay for a wall.
However, all of Mexico money is currently being held in a bank under the name of former Mexican Prince and cannot be retrieved without a large security deposit of five billion dollar.
Because all of Mexico money is in this account we require a sum of five billion America dollars to provide to the bank in order to releases many more billions of dollars deposited there by former Mexico Prince.
By providing me five billion dollars today you ensure payment to you of a hundred billion dollars for the buildment of your wall! But we must act fast or the bank will acquire the sum of our funds for ever and we will be unable to move Mexico money to the America.
Again please provide five billion dollars as soon as is possible to arrange the retrieval of your deserved money!
God is blessing!

The stated goal (explicitly and implicitly) of the Trump administration (TA) is massive reduction of all immigrants including legal ones. The 120K extra EB visas that you refer to is a side-effect of the administration's curbing of the consular processing abroad, resulting in spillover. It was by no means an intended policy and it remains to be seen whether all those visas will be used by the USCIS. The pandemic has been used as an excuse by the TA to curb immigration. Republicans might claim they are all for legal immigrants but we have seen the last 4 years that they have not delivered any relief.
The media might have their biases and they reflect their readership/viewership. Negative coverage or criticism is immediately labelled "fake news", while stories speaking positively of him (Fox News etc.) is deemed "real". The functioning of a liberal democracy depends on an informed citizenry and a free press. This president has tried to misinform the people and silence and discredit the press to levels seen only in autocratic nations.
The TA is one of the most corrupt governments every to rule, stemming from the fact that Trump is wholly corrupt himself, seeking only to enrich himself and his businesses, and this is reflected in his policies from the tax cuts to foreign policy. He stokes divisiveness and racism if it can help him stay in power. He has sought to destroy every norm and violated laws simply because there is no one to check him. His re-election will be the undoing of America.
There are so many red flags that it is impossible to write about all of them here. As immigrants we should lobby for fair and just treatment because we have been law-abiding all along. It is counterproductive in glorifying and getting sucked into the very politics that we as outsiders should know to avoid.

You were so much brainwashed by the media and I don't know where to start. You do not understand how this country was started and so much ignorant when it comes to facts. You are saying the TA is most corrupt government because of the media, give me an example of what corruption his administration made?
1. De-regulations and tax cuts to boost the economy?
2. Securing the borders to stop illegal immigration and human trafficking? Think about so many women and children.
3. Taking care of Vets?
4. Coming out of endless wars from the middle east and having done 3 (and more to come) peace deals? The president nominated for 3 times for the noble prize.
4. Highest unemployment rate 3.4, especially for black, Hispanic and Asian Americans?
5. 700K manufacturing jobs created when Barack Obama said you need magic wand for that (who is actually the most corrupt president in this country, along side George Bush)
8. Wages are rising and median house hold income rose.
9. Getting rid of ISIS caliphate and killing its leader?
10. Made this country energy independent, US is No.1 producer of energy now.
11. Signed favored nations law, which enables to get drugs prices lower.
12. Had the guts take on corrupt and communist China.
13. Many trade deals and replaced NAFTA with USMCA
These are just few accomplishments. You need to understand the master plan and what is going on with Globalism and going towards socialism/communism which will tear this country apart. Remember, this pandamic is planned which is part of the plan. Do some research. It is beyond me, how people can be this ignorant. You will all be future citizens some day, learn about the true history of this country and assimilate. I have to admit it took me a while to understand Ace's humor!
As a matter of fact I did vote literally just now. No surprises there - voted Biden and Kamala the black tam brahm desi aunt.
Trump has got nothing to do with 120K extra visas for EB. It is a pure accident. If Trump had his way - Indians are not welcome in his America. Wake up folks.
I like NBK's post below. That's pretty much how I see things. But to be fair, there are two areas where I vehemently agree with Trump's actions - I just think those two things are out of his hatred for Obama and Obama supporters rather than out of his non-existent moral compass.
Those two things are:
1) Wars and the myth of terrorism
Trump has not initiated any new wars. He also has resisted initiating one with Iran even when tempted / prompted by usual war mongers like Graham. I totally like it. Also notice how under trump ISIS is totally gone. Because ISIS was nothing but an artificial creation of the war machine. At least that's what I think. Somehow under Trump they have gone away. (p.s. thus proving that there is no "Islamic" terrorism. It's all geopolitical games folks. Never ever stereotype people.)
2) Keeping pharmaceutical prices down.
Trump is totally after all these crooked pharmas. I like how he has forced them to give Americans better prices.
But other than these two things I think Trump is a total disaster and actually quite dangerous for not just Americans but the entire world. He has no moral compass and is completely unhinged. As I said - these two things are simply a way for him to be anti obama and distinguish himself. Look at his so called trade deals. They are not deals ... they are blackmails. That's an excellent way for destroy American empire. Those empires last that are relatively kind and just. Note the word "relatively". Anyway ... I can write pages after pages but enough said. Usually NRIs who support Trump are right wing folks from India (as you know I used to be one .... no more. American has shown me how beautiful all cultures and people are and how we should never ever stereotype people based on color religion race gender or anything else).

My comments inline:
1. De-regulations and tax cuts to boost the economy?
- FALSE. Everywhere he has helped his rich friends.
2. Securing the borders to stop illegal immigration and human trafficking? Think about so many women and children.
- FALSE. He is not worried about human trafficking. He is worried about browning of America. He is so brutal he separated children from parents as a policy.
3. Taking care of Vets?
- FALSE. Obama did that. Trump is falsely claiming credit.
4. Coming out of endless wars from the middle east and having done 3 (and more to come) peace deals? The president nominated for 3 times for the noble prize.
- Mostly TRUE. But I refuse to believe this is out of any kindness or moral compass.
4. Highest unemployment rate 3.4, especially for black, Hispanic and Asian Americans?
- Part true. But basically Trump inherited a solid economy from Obama. Tax cuts definitely spurred it.
5. 700K manufacturing jobs created when Barack Obama said you need magic wand for that (who is actually the most corrupt president in this country, along side George Bush)
- FALSE. Just look at latest data (I believe NYT published beautiful charts). All presidents have lost manufacturing jobs except bill clinton under who they grew 1.2% net.
8. Wages are rising and median house hold income rose.
- FALSE. Covid has turned American GDP as well as income with a net negative growth. But even without COVID we should not conflate stock market welfare and real median income growth. I don't think it is true. Happy to be proven wrong if you show me data.
9. Getting rid of ISIS caliphate and killing its leader?
- Mostly true. I have minor disagreement but not worth discussing.
10. Made this country energy independent, US is No.1 producer of energy now.
- FALSE. It happened under Obama. Obama is the one who spurred all kinds of alternative energy including Fracking wind etc. Under Obama US became the top oil producer and net exporter and is now on its way to becoming one of the largest if not the largest gas producer.
11. Signed favored nations law, which enables to get drugs prices lower.
- Absolutely TRUE. This is great.
12. Had the guts take on corrupt and communist China.
- FALSE. Really? Corrupt communist china? There is no way in this world you are going to put the genie in the bottle. Chinese people have woken up and China is already superpower. There is no way in the world you can be antagonistic to them and try to force them. The only way forward is cooperation and mutual interest and diplomacy. Trump is the worst person to deal with China (which is a threat if you make it to be).
13. Many trade deals and replaced NAFTA with USMCA
- FALSE. I think they all are shams. Nothing substantial signed. Trump is simply rebranding the same old thing and taking credit. Again happy to be proven wrong. Give me a summary how USMCA is better than NAFTA.
Other than this I think I have no words when educated people say that this was a planned pandemic. Folks you can plan a war but not its outcome. A pandemic is worse than a war because there is just no way to control it especially when there is no vaccine or therapy. COVID could have been an accident but this is no planned pandemic. No government would deliberately do this.

Good points made.
I wish I could only emphasize socialist progressive policies don’t make a communist nation.
The false equivalence is mind boggling.
Social security and Medicare is the biggest socialist program in the world .. yes
;the republicans literally have a war against science. DT has a war against facts in general.
Only thing matters is stock market and business loss/ gain ( not median income but profits of the corporations)His rallies speeches; debates all point to that -
he has a dog whistle ; if you don’t see it I am
Surprised
He has shown poor moral compass as well time and again
He is proven to lie all the time
I will say this ; I might be better off economically under a republican govt; but the cost of that is way too high for my
Anyways, we are stuck with whoever the American people elect. Qesehmk good to see you voted blue down the ticket.it is absolutely necessary

You will all be future citizens some day, learn about the true history of this country and assimilate. I understand this is not a political forum, and we will keep this to immigration topics, but someone got me started and I will shut up now.
Knowing history and learning from it and correcting the mistakes( blunders)
OR
Knowing history and condoning it.
I prefer the first.
How America started and where it came from is not necessarily a better place; that we should aspire to bring back.
And what does assimilation even mean in this context ? Or what does assimilation have to do with this discussion ?
This sounds more like ‘ shut up and know your place’ to me

2) Keeping pharmaceutical prices down.
Trump is totally after all these crooked pharmas. I like how he has forced them to give Americans better prices.
I do not believe Trump went after big pharma, and certainly not for the sake of good public-policy; he has several vested interest in drug companies, and when he feels he directly or indirectly benefits personally (financially or politically), he will squeeze one company or drug manufacturer, and claim he is being tough on them as whole.
Just look at how he touted HCQ as a wonder-drug for CoViD-19. He has states and agencies hoard this drug for no good reason except his family is holding a mutual fund that is invested in the Sanofi (manufacturer of HCQ). He claimed that he was taking it himself, which was a complete lie. There was a mad rush from ordinary citizens to buy the drug for themselves because the president said that it works. I mean, his "beautiful" healthcare plan is always been 2 weeks away---for the last 4 years.
He is bane to all ordinary people, and boon to the corrupt swamp that operates under the cloak of "capitalism".

It is surprising that in this country you can survive and flourish without paying what you owe in millions, but can't survive if you owe a few thousand buck (most people with bad credit are low income people or who messed up their earning and savings). I guess it is no different on that aspect than India that you can borrow crores and no one asks if you default, but if you take thousands or lakhs the banks are always after you and your life.

I don't have words to express my amazement and disappointment that anybody in this forum would have good things to say about the TA. It is inconceivable!
My first action after receiving GC in hand was to go plant the Biden/Harris sign on the lawn (I had asked a neighbor to hold on to one for me for when time comes) and make a donation to the Great Slate campaign (https://secure.actblue.com/donate/great_slate).
Dem's have their own faults for sure - but they are not hell bent on throwing you out of the country for any possible reason. Anybody who still believes that Republicans are FOR legal immigration has his/her heads in the sand for past many years.

I agree with you Q that a planned pandemic is far fetched, at the worst we can say China might have fudged the impacted numbers. But we may also argue that they were able to control the spread better because of strict lockdown. And on parties, everyone will have for and against all the time. But in the recent timeframe the bar has fallen down for the basic decency and courtesy in American politics and is now at the level of Indian politics a lot.

My point was that you conveniently fail to recognize the events 4 years back when the current president got elected or all the events that have happened over the past year.
But, all of sudden you see some protest from a group that you dont agree with, and its fascism.
Anyway - this is your forum and this is a free country. I hope you take this the right way when someone challenges you.

You already said enough and that's ok. It is a free country. The reason I called you fascist is because you couldn't differentiate between fascists using violence to subvert entire constitutional proceedings of congress vs BLM protesters and granted some were rioters.

This is great news. This will definitely put pressure on USCIS to start approving GCs. Congratulations to all fellow 2012 EAD applicants. You all are FA current.
Added:
Ace got his wish of EB1I FA Current in one month. Lets see how this works for EB2I FA dates in future bulletins.
This movement is definitely considering FB to EB spillover. Not in the borderline of 7% country cap quota like last bulletin.
Definite change of attitude from DOS and they are making bold movements. There is no reason why they should stall movement now. They are indirectly telling USCIS that approving GCs is their problem. DOS job is to keeping moving the dates based on available GCs.
If there is any backlogger still remaining who wished for DT to win second term after seeing these movements?

The bulletin release in the 2nd week is a welcome change. Eb2 has moved 3 and half months while Eb3 has done 2 months.
For EB2 there was around 4000 total applicants from Jan 15th to May 1st which DOS appear confident to process next month. USCIS needs to ensure they can service those numbers. The new director Alexander looks like he can make positive directions for USCIS and get the institute back as a Service instead of enforcement.

I dont want to berate DT supporters but I do want to mention how things soured for them.
I still remember people running floor to floor in our apartment and chanting DTs name when he won in 2016. As things went downhill and when the very same Indian supporters were left hanging for dear life by SM, I saw them groan and hope for change in 2020. They should reflect on what would have been if 2020 had turned differently...forget getting current, we would have seen the full force of public charge, dates not moving, visas getting wasted, H1 restrictions getting beyond stifling...mea culpa is not a bad thing

Appreciate your kind and balanced comment. Believe it not I like DT on two things: 1) He made no new wars. The only US president since Eisenhower to not engage in any war!! 2) He lowered pharma prices and insurance premiums.
But as far as immigration goes - he was and is absolutely racist. I do not want to distract this thread and thus I move all such comments there.

Noob question: For all the other areas where DT government unleashed terror (especially in last 1-2 years), could we expect similar progress ?
Specially relevant for people who changed jobs and need to restart PERM.
Examples:

- H4 and H4 EAD processing times increased to 8-10 months

DT has caused America systemic degradation of its institutions. Immigration is just one aspect.
Even though DT is out of power, his followers occupy all levels of government. That's why IMHO we see the progress against the capitol rioters is so slow. Because there is unbelievable amount of distrust.
And thus it is a delicate and huge challenge in front of biden to undo that damage. I would be ecstatic if Biden admin can even cut half the damage. I do not expect them to restore anything back to normal.
