Hello All - My PD is 07/01/09 and I just got an SMS saying that an RFE was generated on my case. I got an RFE last year as well for medicals and I am assuming that this is probably the same thing. I don't know what it is at this time. I'm curious if anyone else got RFE notices recently?
Thanks!

That's pretty interesting. I haven't heard of other cases as yet - and nothing has changed in my case status as yet. Still - this is a little early to start sending medical RFEs for the summer spillover season. Are they planning to start a little earlier this year?

Hey guys, just received the text message regarding RFE and checked my status online. Status says 'Request for Initial evidence was mailed'. My PD is July 2009. Only I received the RFE this time - no RFE for my wife yet.
Both my wife and I received RFEs in July 2014, and we responded with medicals, eval etc. I had also invoked AC21 since I had changed jobs when I responded to the RFE.
Is this in anticipation of USCIS moving dates to 2009 in the coming months? July 2009 seems to be a stretch by any measure for approval dates. It also seems odd that only I have received the RFE and my wife's status is still at 'RFE was received' back from 2014.
Trackitt seems to have a few other instances of RFEs in December. Not sure if this is just a random RFE or whether this means dates will really move.
Kanmani, SKPanda, Imdeng - anyone else received similar RFEs? Would appreciate your thoughts!

No . Our current status is 'RFE received in Aug 2014'.

Same here - RFE Response Received in July 2014.
Thanks Kanmani, Imdeng for your responses.
Hoping to receive the RFE letter in the mail in the next few days, so will keep you posted on what its about. I suspect its the standard tripartite request - EVL, 693 and continuous work authorization. Very annoying though, because I don's see a scenario where I will get greened in the next 12 months.
I did get a new I-140 approved and proactively send in an interfile request two months back, so wondering if that is what led to the RFE. Still would be very odd though, since requesting an EVL just a few weeks after having received a new I-140 exemplifies USCIS inefficiencies!
All the forum discussions regarding forecasts seem to have gotten cold for some reason, which is little surprising. Is there a scenario anyone is aware of that predicts 2009 PD dates getting greened in the next 12 months? How deep into 2009? (I thought we were all ****ed due lack of spill over this year).

Thanks Kanmani, Imdeng for your responses. ...
Happy new year everyone!
Wanted to share a quick update - appears like several folks on Trackitt have also been getting RFEs. From the pattern I am seeing, my guess is that those who are getting RFEs now are those whose files were recently touched (AC21, new I-140 etc) and hence 'on top of the pile'. Dates as far in as Sept 2009 have received RFEs.
Not sure if this is related to standard expiration of medicals or something more sinister (a sadist who wants to gift RFEs for the new year perhaps?), but I am guessing time will tell.
Will share the contents of my RFE as soon as I receive it in the mail (hopefully, tomorrow)

In other news, I received my Happy New Year RFE gift from USCIS today in the mail. Same request as 2014 - Meds, EVL and continuous work authorization.
Such a waste of time and resources..both mine, and the governments. I now pray that Trump becomes president and dissolves USCIS, putting an end to this inefficiency.

In other news, I got a RFE notification for I-485 (primary only). Expecting it to be the same EVL+Medicals stuff. Since my PD is Sep 2009, I am likely wasting my time and money on another round of medicals after my last one in 2014.
A lot of folks have mentioned that only the primary I-485 applicant has been getting these RFEs. Not sure what to make of it, since dependents' medicals are out of date as well. Maybe USCIS wants us to only waste "some" money or they have re-interpreted the I-693 rule in a different way.

Has any other 2012 filer received an RFE in recent days? I received an RFE on 12/30, and there seems to now be a flood of individuals on trackitt who have recieved RFEs. I'm surprised that no one apart from me has got an RFE on this forum.

I received an RFE .. and posted about it here (http://www.qesehmk.org/forums/showthread.php/1217-EB2-3-Predictions-(Rather-Calculations)?p=57141&viewfull=1#post57141). You should waste more time on the forums :p (in addition to your hard-earned money and peace of mind on another round of medical tests and attorney fees of course..).
Any thoughts on why the RFEs are being issued only for the primary applicant this time? My guess is that USCIS wanted to only issue a EVL RFE to estimate demand, but couldn't be bothered with making a new template.

LOL. I didn't see your post, guess I am not wasting enough time. :)
No clue why USCIS is doing this, it is the most inefficient thing ever.
What is even more disheartening is that USCIS has likely not even opened our RFE response from 2014. The reason why I feel this way is because I had changed jobs in 2014 (right around the time my RFE was received), and my new company's attorney's had filed my RFE along with a new G28.
Today, I received an email from my old company's immigration attorney informing me that they have received a copy of my RFE! I guess USCIS didn't even care to open the envelope we had sent the RFE in and change the attorney on record for my pending I-485.
Tells you how hopeless and non-time-critical they consider the cases of those waiting in line.

I received RFE as well. PD July 2009 EB2, filed 485 in Feb 2012. received first RFE in aug 2014 (EVL+medical) only for primary. received same RFE a few days ago (EVL+medical), again for primary only.

So, it does seem like we are experiencing a 'mass rfe' type scenario - several dozen folks on other forums have already received their RFEs, and several on this forum have too.
Odd enough, nearly all RFEs are for dates in 2009, and only primary applicant.
This brings me to an interesting question - could this be USCIS's strategy to build a case to move the date deep into 2009? It is my understanding that once a primary's GC has been approved, it is not possible to deny a dependent GC unless there is a statutory issue (medical, threat to the country, fraudulent BC etc). In a scenario where the dependent RFE has not been received and medicals expired, USCIS will be unable to approve their case, but the dependent should still be eligible for EAD/AP indefinitely until their date their current.
If this is in-fact the strategy, then USCIS will be able to afford 'immigration security' to those waiting in line, while simultaneously moving the dates twice as fast.
Am I being over optimistic about how much USCIS cares and this is more realistically a case of USCIS ineptitude, or is this really a possibility?
Gurus, would appreciate your thoughts.

How would this help speed up approvals beyond one FY? The next time USCIS moves dates past 2009, all these dependent EADs will need to be converted to GCs, which would mean the dates would stall again. The demand is not disappearing unless they don't count dependents...

You are assuming that USCIS cares about the backlog while all signs point to the contrary. They might even be actively hostile.

Seems like its raining RFEs. However, I am yet to get an RFE (TSC, PD: Aug 2009). Is this a problem (ironic?)? Is there some one in Texas Service Center who got an RFE?

All the RFE's I see here and other forums are from TSC. I got one a week back PD: JUN09. Haven’t got the hard copy yet.

It would speed up approvals if USCIS decides to deliberately delay sending RFEs to dependents. If they did it one year, they could do it again...and again..and again, while continuing to move dates forward. In reality, its a date game that they can play and make a case for moving dates.
Recall, that there is no basis for folks to proactively send in I-693s, and there is no way USCIS can approve an AOS application with an expired medical.
Ofcourse, all of this is just conjecture, who knows what USCIS is really up to!

It could very well be a system bug too. They might fix it and send the dependent med RFEs.

Hello All,
My petition was approved in Jul 2014. However, my wife's has not yet been approved. She was a dependent on my petition. Our date is 7/14. She did not get an RFE last year and has not received a RFE this year. I'm worried that she will miss the boat this year as well. Does anyone have any idea on what we could do here to get our card this year?
Thank you so much for your help.

Someone from USCIS woke up to the fact that I-485 dependents also need to be issued RFEs for medicals. Got a RFE SMS for my spouse today. It's fairly obvious that USCIS screwed up by deciding to send RFEs till EB2I Sep 2009 .. we can only hope that it wasn't done maliciously (being actively hostile as @imdeng suggested).

Thought so. I'm almost certain USCIS lost my wife's case file. No activity since filing but for renewing EAD. Might have to meet with congressman/senator. Thanks for your reply though!!
