Finally had the interview yesterday first thing in the morning, and late in the evening the status changed tp "Case Approved, New Card is Being Produced"
The interview was good and I will capture the questions and details in the appropriate thread. It is a relief for sure than anything changed in the excitement or way of life atleast at this point.
I need to thank Q for starting this forum, and others being part of the valuable experts and contributors acting as the energy to keep this forum going on and relevant.
I am sure this forum would not have been what it is today without contributions from Spec, Q, Kanmani, Teddy, Suninphx, Soggadu, idliman, Turbulent, Aceman and many more.
The knowledge and expertise surely bowled me over, while the humor from time to time eased things and the stories of people have given me strength showing there are far more tough conditions people are facing than me.
Priority Date---------: 10/30/2010 EB2 India - National Benefits Center (MSC21903*****)

EAD/AP Approval I797--: 07/06/2021

Interview Confirmation - 08/09/2021
Interview Date and Interview - 9/30/2021
I485 Approval---------: 9/30/2021 (Case Approved and Ordered New Card)
GC in hand------------:
The PD and the approval dates are same 11 years apart and after a near 14 years stay in US.
Did three job changes and the second company went through 3 mergers and multiple delays in filing Labor during the initial years. Also wife started working on H4 EAD from 2016 after giving up on her Dental Career with more than 8 years experience and after that being house wife for 8 years it was difficult to get back into the Job Market, putting a denting in her confidence. Had companies taking advantage when we tried for her H1 between 2010 and 2012, and lost some full time opportunities in the last three years and one as recently as 2 months back as at the final confirmation they declined as there was no GC in hand even though she had H4 EAD and EAD based on AOS.
My elder daughter lost a couple of chances with no GC earlier, but I am glad we got it right on time as she is a Sophomore in Highschool and getting ready for applying to colleges.
Congrats srimurthy!

Hey bangaloreboy, congratulations on getting approved! So sorry to hear about the health issues your wife is facing. I know everyone here keeps piling on the healthcare system over and over, but we do have some of the best doctors and facilities in the world. I hope you all enjoy life here on moving forward and stay happy and healthy.
Thanks for your wishes Dragonfly!
If you have good insurance, then healthcare here is second to none. We seldom hear about inferior care, its the cost of healthcare that hits people the most

What a story. So many of us can identify with it. When I arrived in 2000, I had no clue who would pick me up or where I would stay or anything really! I stayed at a kind soul's place for a few days and then crashed at one of my batchmate's place until I was able to secure an apartment myself. Delays in GC filing. Kindness of Americans ... a bit of racism. Wife's health. Kids growing up. Fellow H1Bs and all the trips we made. H1 / EAD struggles. USCIS checking our status along border. Driver's license struggles ...
Can go on an on. Thank you for writing an interesting tale. Very happy for you again. I hope your wife becomes 100% fit. Health is more precious than anything else. I wish you great life and career.
Thanks for your wishes Q! There are days she can run 3k and then some days when getting out of bed becomes difficult. Looking how far she has come, I am sure she will only get better!

I too am someone who has followed this forum and a couple of other forums too, for 6 to 7 years and never registered. Posts by Q, Spec, Idliman, AceMan and many others have been invaluable in providing me insights into the US immigration system which I have been interested in because my twin sons had also undertaken this journey. I learnt so much from you all that I was able to accurately predict when their long journey would probably conclude. I've now just registered to thank you all for your contribution and to share the news that both my sons have recently had their cards issued within a week of each other! It is my sincere wish that everyone on this forum receives good news soon.

Q - I was reading your response and yes High School beginning is a good time to start building up the portfolio. Also you can do some activities in Middle school which demonstrate the continuity of the interest and efforts.
About easing the house chores load for the Spouse, I love cooking (not the traditional items or way) but my kids love the ad-hoc combinations or dishes I make. It is a different issue that my wife hates the mess I make in the kitchen ;-). No matter how much I clean there is always a spot to point out for the missing perfection.

We received our green cards yesterday. My timeline is given in the signature but I would also like to take some liberty to tell my story in brief as below:
I have been in this country for about 14 years and my wait for a green card lasted 8 years. I however feel lucky in many ways. I was fortunate to work in a sought-after field and changed multiple companies to get good jobs, survived major reorgs and layoffs. Strangely I could not change job in the last two years even after doing everything and trying so much. After rejections, I felt heartbreaks and hopelessness but it was probably for a good in the end. It was also a chance interaction with the paralegal of the law firm that enabled me to apply for I-485. My lawyers had told me that I will have to file a new PERM after a promotion. The New PERM process has been pending for more than a year and I was not serious as I was trying to change job. But somehow in the first week of October, I called the paralegal to understand if and what new letters of employment will be required for the new PERM. At the end of the discussion, she casually mentioned that I need not worry about the priority dates as they will complete the PERM process in 6 months and should be able to file I-485 immediately. Till then I had no idea about the priority dates being forwarded so much in the October bulletin. I had assumed that my priority date is not going to be near current for another 5 years and had stopped looking. Immediately after the call with the paralegal, I searched and found that my dates are current with the approved I-140 and made a case to the lawyer with help of my employer to file with the existing PERM/I-140. They finally agreed that promotion can be considered progressive work in the same field (it really was just the next level promotion and I was wondering why it should require a new PERM). Finally, we could file I-485 by the end of October. Even in the end, I got RFE 28th Sept, reached RFER on 29th Sep and status changed to CPO on 29th Sep. So it all ended well with the grace of God and luck.
Many thanks to this forum and all the members who provided analysis and answered queries helping me !! Best wishes to all.

Congratulations, Waiting4GC! Most applicants just assume that once they start the process, they can't be promoted/receive raises etc. based on faulty or nefarious advise from their employers/attorneys. Best to do the research and make sure all options are available early in the process and not hamstrung oneself without reason.

Long-time follower and recently a semi-active member of this forum. I would like to thank this forum especially Q, Spec, Aceman, and many other gurus for their insights; in past, this is where I came back almost every day to get some news/ analysis that is positive and those kept me going during the gloomy days when each month PD used to advance for 1 or 2 days!!! I am thankful to all the contributors!
Yesterday (10/18/2021) was the end of my 10 years of waiting for GC! Here is the timeline:
SRC219005**** series
PD - 09/2011 (EB2 to EB3 downgrade)
I-485 RD: 10/27/2020
I-485 ND: 01/06/2021
BM: 06/11/2021
I-140 (EB3-PP) APPROVAL: 06/14/2021
RFE(Medical): 7/30/2021
RFE Response: 08/12/2021
I-485 New Card Production: 10/18/2021
I-485 Approval: 10/19/2021
Wish the best of luck to those who are waiting. I am confident that no law would take away FY22 spillover and hopefully, many more will be greened!
Thanks again!
PS: If someone could give me a list of "TO DO" after getting the GC, that would be really helpful!

Very happy for you Sudebusa. Enjoy the freedom!
Regarding To-do list
0) Let the employer know so that I-9 can be updated
1) New Driver's ID
2) Update Social Security
3) Let schools/colleges know (if applicable) so that you are charged in state or whatever normal rate is.
4) Update financial institutions (least priority because they need your money regardless of your status!)

Thank you, Q!
I think DL I can wait as due to COVID it is too much rush in DMV.
I am more worried about the SSA office; I need to apply for SSN for my son but all the SSA offices are closed. I will call them and try to find out the process. I am not comfortable sending them the (hard earned) GC in mail or dropbox!

Many Congratulations.!

Yes, just now called them. Need to send the application and copy of GC; after that, they will call me to schedule an appointment.
First I called my nearest SSA office, the lady told me there is no way to apply for a new SSN until offices open!!! Then I called another office. They have all the excuses not to work!

I was just reading on our green cards
Me and my spouse categories are same e37 even though I filed as his dependent ( I think it should be e39). I changed from h1b to AOS as his dependent
Does it even matter?

It should be all OK. Rest easy and smell the green grass or autumn leaves.

Hi Sri - I didn't apply for EAD (I-765), only applied for AOS (I-485). In I-765 there is an option to request for SSN but I-485 does not have that option. However, it has been sorted out with the local SSA office, I dropped the form (SS-5) and copy of GC today, they will call me to schedule an appointment within the next 1 week. During the in-person appointment, I need to show the originals.
Thanks.

Got approved yesterday after lots of jugaad which I won't get into. Hugely relieved. Big thanks to Q and this forum. I've been visiting for 10 years maybe at this point. Got Canada PR along the way but glad to be able to stay here as all my friends are here. Almost had to move.
If anyone is still stuck in the backlog and there is no legislative movement, please get Canada PR if you can and free yourself from the shackles here.

Thanks Q! And for hosting this great forum!
I actually never had it as bad as most people - no kids or spouse, and I had the same job for 9 years which I liked and they mostly treated me well, so it was quite bearable.
Except until Covid hit and I realized I couldn't visit my parents and they couldn't come here. And then I also realized that if I had been a citizen, I would have sponsored them for a GC by now. It was only at that time the racism really stung. And of course, the uncertainty of whether I would get my GC (with all the wastage) or not was terrible. Without Congressional intervention, I still would not have...
It's hard to believe that the Gang of Eight bill was in 2013 or whenever and 8 years later, the issue still persists. Terrible.

Right when you think that things aren?t going your way, things change.! Finally, got the card delivered and I cannot stop looking at it. I was current for 4 months from July till October and after the November bulletin was published, I had lost the hope of getting the LPR at least until next summer. Thank you so very much to Q, Spec, Idliman, Sri, Ace, YT, Vedu, Zenzone and all other Gurus for helping and answering all the queries. It is only because of this forum, I ensured that I filed a documentarily complete application which ultimately helped in getting GC right before the dates retrogressed.
My story is no different, came to the country in Fall of 2007 for Masters. I remember every single minute of my first travel to the states; I had to change 4 flights to reach the destination and that was the first time I ever sat in an Airplane.! My last flight was about 25 minutes in air plus takeoff/landing and I was one of the only 3 passengers in a 20-seater.! At the airport, the trolleys weren?t working, and I had to carry/roll all the luggage outside of airport. I did not know who is coming to pick me up. I waited outside about 30 minutes before the student coordinator showed up, I had no accommodation arrangements made and after the exhausting journey before taking me to an apartment, she took me to visit the University.! Finally, she made some calls and I ended up with my desi roommates. Completed my masters in ?09 and been with the same employer since ~ 12 years. No major complaints with the work except that the role/work has saturated and is monotonous. My Immigration journey was smooth with no hiccups, and I feel lucky to have it continued for the LPR approval as well. Below is the timeline.

NJ Driving license renewal after GC
Hi, Did any of you manage to renew DL after GC online ? As you may know, NJ requires H1B and EAD holders to show up in person for DL renewal. Wondering if you manage to get it renewed online after GC ?
If yes, appreciate it if you can share the details
Thanks in advance

And we received our GCs in mail today. Holding it in hand was a surreal and bittersweet moment. Didn't imagine i would get it in an year. In fact, it was a surprise to even apply for I-1485 last year as i wasn't keeping any track of date discussions nor visa bulletins in this forum or anywhere.
I have been a silent member of this forum for a long time and would like to extend my sincere thanks and gratitude to all the members for their guidance. No other forum has more saner voices and civilized discussions.
Coming to the story part: I came to US for my masters in Fall 97. The firm i joined right after school did apply for my GC in EB3 in 2000. I also got an opportunity to apply for I-1485 soon after but didn't take it up as i was single and didn't want complications later (side-note: Had a friend who ran into immigration issues for his wife as he had GC before marriage. i took a conservative approach looking at his experience and thought can apply later. On a funny note, My room-mate at the time being in a similar situation decided to apply for I-1485 as he didn't want to lose his chance of getting a GC sooner. He figured he could marry someone possibly already studying/working here or has GC or is a citizen. He did get his GC but is still unmarried. Maybe his luck will change now :)).
The second chance never came and i returned to india in 2004. Came back with family in 2010 and filed for my GC as soon as i could. That it took a pandemic for things to happen makes it bittersweet. Hopefully the winds of change will blow hard enough to remove country caps and dependent counting making the whole process less stressful for everyone.
Wishing everyone in the pipeline that they get their GC at the earliest.

I had read that there is a co-relation between the I-485J notice date and the actual approval of the GC. My 485-J ND is 11/05 and the Biometrics were completed today on 11/22. Now, i just have to wait and watch as I had submitted the medicals along with the initial filing as well...

PD: 12/11/2012
Received Date: 12/21/2020 (EB3 Downgrade)
ND: 03/02/2021
Biometrics: 05/26/2021
I140 Approval (Converted to premium): 06/08/2021
New Card is Being Issued: 11/02/2021
Case is approved: 11/03/2021
Card is Mailed: 11/04/2021
Card is Delivered: 11/06/2021a
I am awaiting for the 485 approval 797, hopefully in a day to two.
Thank you very much everyone who is contributing to this forum, it has definitely kept me sane. The information shared is invaluable. I wish everyone waiting, all the very best and may you get your GC at the earliest. Hope everyone had a great Diwali, I definitely got a Diwali bumper bonanza.

Many Congratulations Mohan.

Hello Friends, Have been long time follower of this forum but writing my first post after my 485 is approved (PD: OCT 2010/EB2). Thanks Q for providing wealth of resources for GC hopefuls, and creating an eco system where there is free debate and wonderful minds discussing about visa predictions, while providing some guidance on how to plan your life/career during uncertain waiting times. Wishing good luck to all waiting in the queue.

Hello Gurus,
I am happy to share that my I-485 has been approved last week.
I want to sincerely thank EVERYONE on this forum who actively contribute to community and keep sharing the wealth of knowledge with rest of larger community. (avoiding names as it would be unfair if I miss someone's name, have learnt from so many Gurus on this forum for last 10+ years and few may not be active anymore).
Also sincerely wishing good luck to all still waiting, it should come soon for everyone.

We are right now in a winter wonderland as a lot of old timers have gotten their GCs and moved on. So the forum is a bit inactive. Then spring comes, new experts emerge and they help others. I am honestly just a gatekeeper and do occasionally answer what I can !

Finally greened after 15 years of coming to this country!! This forum has been a constant source of information and inspiration to me for more than a decade :).
Q, Spec, AceMan and other experts have guided so many of us here with their pearls of wisdom!
My PD (5/23/2011 EB2-I) became current as per July bulletin this year. I didn't file for downgrade last year (fortunately in hindsight).
I sent in the I-693,I-131,I-765,I-485J forms along with my I-485 application and it went to NBC luckily.

Finally, my turn. The final Over is not easy.
Today I received my daughters Card and that?s the last one.
Mine was approved and card mailed in November and USPS could not deliver and returned to USCIS. With some efforts able to get that in the December end .
My wife card received straight
My Daughter got RFE for medicals. Doc. missed some vaccine information. I sent again the fresh medicals and approved, and card mailed.
This site gives me relaxation when required. Thanks to Q for maintaining this platform and there are some nice people giving very important information .

Congratulations. I second that. A friend of mine (ROW) got GC after contacting congressman, last week. That person was from a large metro. We have two threads for Congressman / Senator process; One under EAD (https://www.qesehmk.org/forums/showthread.php/2945-Overview-of-Congressman-Senator-Inquiry-Process) and another under AOS.
If you are in a deep red district in the middle of nowhere consider yourself lucky. This process does NOT work well for people with residences in big population centers. For people in big cities / centers / metros with lots of immigration numbers, you need to bring something extra to the game. Because 100 people are going to congressman from your district every month (or week?) or so. The staff will not have time to take up your case. They have more important matters to attend to. They will simply say that they are working on it and your request will not be in their to-do list. In such cases, you need to document when and whom you had talked to USCIS and what their reply was. If you did that five or ten times, I bet the staff will know that you did everything in your power before you had asked them for help. Another thing is when USCIS tries to close your congressman request with a false statement, use that against them to push your case. In my case they replied that my PD was not current (blatently false) and I was able to give that extra ammunition to the congressman office. It might not work well if you tell USCIS that they are wrong (it might backfire), but a congressman's liason can do it and ask for an explanation. Congressman or Senator does not matter. It is the staff that works with you that matters.
So you need to build your case for the congressman's liasson; Another way is to build good relations with them when you get a chance (or you had used them previously). Otherwise you will be one of the hundred and they may not think your case is that important. It is similar to college admissions or college campus interview as an example. Somehow you need to go to the next level where the congressman's office takes up your file starts making enquiries.
Good Luck folks.

Perfect we are almost same
My pd is aug 2021
Downgrade to Eb3 same as u
Filed in same date as your 10/30/2020
I140 approved in aug
Ead approved in dec
Only difference is I am struck at texas, i took senator help last week but today i saw status as expedite request denied 😂😂😂😂😂
I think that they take action on congress man query only when processing time is outside the range, for Texas 485 processing time is 19months so may be that is reason they denied my request as it is only 17 months so far, it sucks but that is the analysis

Is there any limit on how many times you can request Senator or Congressman to contact USICS, my expedite request is denied now because may be it is before the average processing time, But Can I request again in a month or so when I am in average processing time ?

Here is an idea to do some good Karma! You can refile your dependent cases in FB now and save one or two or three(who would've thunk!) visas for the backlogged folks. However - it is costly - i have to admit.
Regardless - many congratulations to your and your family.

I485 RD: March 3, 2022
BM: April 14, 2022
I485 Approval : May 18, 2022
In 2020, I had started a new job and was thinking about getting into EB3, but decided to stay in EB2 lane (hat tip to Aceman here). Finally PERM was approved earlier this year and Fragomen folks were not willing to file non-concurrently. The experience from this forum helped a lot as I had read about SRC/TSC taking their own sweet time to process applications. After a lot of arguing, I convinced Fragomen to get I-140 approved first (paid for PP myself) and filed 485 in early March. I wish everyone waiting in line to get Greened soon.

That's a great news MidWestMaverick. Congratulations. It's good timing. Whatever small doubts I had about concurrent vs non-concurrent are put to rest now. I have told Fragomen about my decision and also paying for Premium. They had hesitantly agreed when I had asked before so hopefully it goes smooth.

Very happy to share that my status change to 'New Card Is Being Produced' today morning. Considering I first arrived in US in June 2001, it's been a long time coming (I had to leave USA in 2007 and returned in 2010).
Timelines for me: PD: June 2011, RD for I-485: January 18, 2022, concurrent filing, went to SRC. I-140 approved after RFE on 3/3/2022. Requested to expedite wife's EAD sent on 4/18 ( request approved on 4/20). Her EAD/AP received on 5/2. My case transferred to NBC on 4/26. I-485 approved 5/23/2022. Derivatives I-485 still shows case received. Sharing the timelines here, in case it helps someone decide the filing strategy.
I just noticed, I joined this forum in November 2011 :) - it's been an amazing source of information and support. Thank you everyone.

That's deep ! I arrived in Aug 2000 and received GC in 2011. I still had a feeling of a wasted decade and although I became a director within 5 years of my first job in US, that feeling of wasted decade lingered. But now as other people have spent almost twice as time and are getting greened I have realized that people have generally done well regardless of immigration status and this is a testament to their own intelligence hardwork as well as somewhat fair american system.
Wish you the very best immigo. I am happy for you.
Our goal is to make this journey easy. And this can only be accomplished if everybody shares and stands up for one other regardless of which country category we belong to. So if you have just joined this forum or not - please keep this in mind. We stand for justice and equal opportunity not just in USA but also in India.

Huffing and puffing, scratching and clawing and completely drained we have made it across the finish line!! When I came into this country back in 2004, I had no inkling that it would be 18 arduous years to get my GC. But all of that is in the past now and I would rather focus on what we can achieve from here on out than what we could have achieved had we gotten a fair shake. This forum had been a treasure trove of knowledge when it comes to all things immigration. It helped me understand the minutiae of the immigration process so that I could make informed decisions. I wish I had found this site earlier, but well as they say it's better late than never. A special shout out to Q (for this fabulous platform), idliman, Acemen, Spectator, Turbulent_Dragonfly, Zenzone, vedu and many others who have shared their valuable insights which have helped me understand the immigration process and in my decision making. Some of the highlights in my immigration journey are summed up below:
i) My employer (a consultancy company) wanted to initiate my GC process in 2008, but then Lehman Brothers happened followed by the financial crash/recession. They informed me that they were freezing all GC applications.
ii) They initiated my GC again in late 2010, but at last moment they informed me that they could only apply for me in EB3 and not in EB2 as per the job listing. The uninformed me back then decided to wait for a year to apply in EB2 than proceeding with EB3. Back then wait time for Eb2 was around 3-4 years and Eb3 7-8 years.
iii) Finally put my application in Jan 2012.
iv) Filed 485 in October 2020, Biometrics - Sept 2021, EAD/AP - March 2022, GC Approved 06/09/2022, GC in hand 06/18/2022
When I finally had the card in hand it was mixed emotions maybe be 80% Relief and 20% Happiness. I am still waiting for the feeling to sink in I guess.

Many congratulations vsivarama. Although belated, the US green card and citizenship are totally worth it. I love India and would never wish to not be an Indian citizen. But I feel just as much at home if not more in the US because of American values of Freedom and Justice.

Boy o Boy! Can't believe that I am writing this :)
Friends I am GREENED and I am on Cloud-9... :)
I am a long time silent follower of Q's blog (you can see from the date of joining), for years it was my go to blog for quality discussion and prediction about EB GC. Wisdom that SPEC, Q, Idliman, Aceman, Turbulant Dragonfly and many others have spread here is unmatched. This blog has kept me sane through my Journey and for this I thank each and everyone who has been constantly helping, guiding fellow mates in every way possible.
I am Greened but my derivatives are still pending but that's a fight for tomorrow, today we celebrate  - Cheers!

Waiting for card to be delivered
NO EAD/AP/Interview
I raised multiple SR/ER - all closed with generic responses
Tier-1 call were more useful,
Tier-2 gave me miss calls or closed cases with generic emails without a call
My Senator sent me an email in my USPS mail that your case of under normal processing and wait till March-2023 before raising an inquiry to USCIS ( This is Texas)
The Congressman actually did raise the inquiry and received a better template response.
Ombudsman still Pending
White house no response so far...
I wish everyone all the very best for your future expeditions/endeavors you may undertake, i think someone shared the idea that we should all meet up once this windfall of GC stops and show our gratitude to each other, meeting could be virtual to make it workable for everyone.
Cheers!

Congratulations and I am sure your derivatives will follow literally in a few days.
Congrats again and best for future life.
For whatever it's worth below are my timelines:

Thanks Q. Yup looking back 9 years doesn't seem bad after approval, even couple weeks the uncertainty was too much to handle.
