Great news imdeng. Congratulations and enjoy the moment while it lasts.
When did you get RFE, and what all did you do for the medical?
Thanks Sri. My last medical RFE was 2018 for Medical and Supp-J - submitted in Oct 2018 - so it was just about to expire. I also had an RFE for BC in 2019.

Thanks Q. I am probably one the oldest-tenure members here except for like you and Spec. You all have been such a pillar of strength for me and so many others. Thank You!
It has been some journey. Came to the country in June 2003, three graduate degrees between the two of us, filed PERM in 2009, EAD/AP in the glorious days of 2012, RFEs in 2014, 2016, 2018, major panic about BC in the middle, one job change and accompanying I-485J madness, three apartments, two houses, cutest boy-girl twins you will ever see! Finally, after 17 years in the country, we have the legal right to stay in the country - even if we lost our jobs.
Right now I am missing all the old timers in the forum who are no longer active here - folks like Kanmani, Veni, Teddy...
No doubt imdeng ... miss the oldfolks like Kanmani, nishanth, soggadu and many more... this forum has been helpful and specially few great folks who made good impact on our lifes..specially Q, Spec and many more

Thank you for your contributions. The forum is what it is because of you and others who have helped others. And it will remain so as long as people genuinely want to help fellow immigrants (whichever country category or any other background they belong to.)
My best again to you. Cheers!

So after a bit of drama with my lawyer not updating the G-28 when they moved a few years back, we finally got our approval and the Green card was delivered to us. It was a nail biting last stretch for us.
This forum has helped me immensely in preserving my sanity for the past several years. Special Thanks to Spec, Q and so many others.
I am very happy to see a lot of people being able to file their I-485 with the expected spillover. Hang in there.
Good luck to everyone ! I will still keep lurking here from time to time :) congratulations... Enjoy

Congratulations Kanmani. I remember your PD was close to mine. Enjoy the freedom and hassle free travel.
I remember a time where we were asked "technical questions" (non-IT) by the officer. It was crazy. I couldn't tell if he was being sarcastic because the question was silly and was unrelated to what I do.I told him that thats not what I do and he still kept asking me the same question. Thank goodness I answered with some basic knowledge i had with the topic. I am not even sure if he understood my answer but didn't ask any more questions. Lol.

USCIS has surprised me few times before , i never saw the following coming, never.
1) I never expected my PD to become current in 2012 ,i could not file for EAD though , i changed job exactly a month before that.
2) They surprised again by moving dates (and pulling it back) in 2015 , i did my medicals and submitted all my documents, that one hurt real bad.I was so sure i got the EAD this time :).
3) Surprised again one morning in December 2018 , my dates were current for Jan bulletin (albeit in EB3) , mailed everyone in my company for options to downgrade.was able to get an EAD finally.
4) My dates are current in December VB ,I had all the research done to contact my congressman in Feb/March , i was so confident that USCIS wont move without a mail from them.wrong again, i got a card production email today.
When i connect the dots everything that happened , happened for good , every single milestone that i passed or missed opened another door.
This and other online forums have been of immense help , thanks to everyone.

Congrats! Awesome to see someone in early 2010 get greened!

Thank you moon80,AceMan,Vedu.
And yes downgrading did help getting GC probably a year early.
had i got my EAD in 2012 I would have left that employer eventually, i would still be on EAD
I don't know what was better getting EAD 7 years early or GC 12 months early :).
Reminds me of the story of Chinese farmer

Congratulations Moveon!!!! Now please do something about TSC folks who are still waiting for RFE :-)
Thanks everyone for the wishes and I hope everyone gets greened . The discriminatory country quota must go first , so unfair to discriminated on the place of birth for a GC category that is supposed to on the basis of merit .
For the TSC folks , I have been saying that you need to call your congresswoman/congressman. I will encourage you to join their weekly townhall meetings to understand the issues they resolve. Last week one person called to thank my congress woman because helped him with mail delivery . He had the USPS not deliver mail daily to his home and that they were rude when he went to the post office. The congressman(her office I guess) called the local office post office and the higher ups who then I believe personally apologized to the person and his mail is delivered daily . There were other minor cases which she seems to be happy to have solved . One thanked her for getting her husbands complex visa issue resolved (no details were discussed) . All through the congressman kept saying that it was her duty and to call her office directly if was urgent and not wait for the email. Some members of congress are more helpful that others, but then you need to try.
TSC issue is serious and if you all call the offices it will make an impact. You deserve your GC , you have earned it . 12-15 year waits are ridiculous just because you were born in India while others get it in a year.

After 11.5 yrs of standing in the queue, Blue fairy finally completed the transition to a Green Fairy today after receiving the coveted "card/document production" email. Although life didn't stop waiting in queue for a GC, this is still a much awaited milestone for the fairy family.
My PD was Oct 2009 and country of chargeability is India. I will not bore you with my journey through the process, but will tell you that jobs, promotions, house, kids all were prioritized way more than the GC. The same things will continue to be priority as I wait to hit the next milestone in about 5 or so years.
Good luck to all.

Thank you for your kind words. I am no expert, just that faced immigration officials across different airports multiple times on EAD/AP and answered a lot of questions to them through the secondary screening.

Thank you Q. Both you, Spec, Kanmani and few others (Aceman, Idliman... So many others) have been my pillar of strength all those years. Hoping to have all those that files back in 2010/12 to get as soon as possible. My immediate reaction after seeing the status update was of 'Profound Silence". Not sure how to put it though. it was not relief or happiness, but just silence.

Just to add it, purely based on Spec's predictions back in 2012 (late 2011 and early 2012) I made career choices so that I can get EAD/AP. I still remember Spec is the only one that predicted date movement at that time.

Hearty congratulations on your approval. it's been a long wait.
I'm mortified to hear that you used any predictions I made for your life decisions.
I can hardly remember 2011/2012 now - certainly not what I may have said back then. They seem different times.
Glad it all worked out eventually.

Thank you Spec. Indeed I used your predictions to switch around jobs since I wanted to file 485 before it retrogresses again back in 2012. (literally did a U turn to go back to primary company since dates were going to be current and new labor was nowhere close to getting approved). All is well that ends well.

Dear Friends,
Over the weekend we got our green cards in hand.
Case Details:
----------------
PD: Nov 2009
I-485 filing date: 22 Feb 2012, NSC
RFEs: Jul 2018 and Jan 2021 ( Both Medical)
CPO: Apr 10, 2021
Cards Delivered: Apr 17, 2021

First of all Q - thanks for maintaining this wonderful forum. I know we have had disagreements on many topics but we agreed on one most important thing 'put our career in front immigration' . That has been guiding principle through out this journey.
Big shout out to lots of old timers - Kanmani, Venni, Teddy, Nishant, Sports, kd2008, yteleven, Ace, Idliman and countless many with whom I have interacted on personal level to seek and render help. Thank you. I apologize if I missed some names. Feeling a little bit emotional while I write this.
Finally Spec- what can I say about your number crunching abilities and way you present them. I was initially not happy to read your predictions (you know that :) ) but quickly realized the practical perspective it brought in. It helped a lot to take my mind off of this GC mirage and focus on career. I wish you only the best in whatever you do.
All the best to everyone who is waiting, specially ak7419 who is waiting for really long time.
Thank you! :)

suninphx,
Many congratulations. It's been such a long wait.
Thanks for the kind words. It's a shame that USCIS have decided to deny us access to the level of information we had way back then.
Even I used to doubt what the underlying data said, because we had some years where quite unexpected things would happen and progress would be more rapid (remember Kazarian??).
All the best and glad to hear that the wait did not prevent you from progressing in your career.

Hi everyone. I have been a silent member of the forum. I used to be little more active before I had kids. But the news I want to share right now is that I just received the text I had been waiting for a long time. Card production is ordered. Thank you Q and spec and many others here on this forum for providing your support, sharing your knowledge and experiences to many of us waiting for a GC this long. And making this wait game manageable with hard data/number crunching. This was a long ride with so many ups and downs- Stressful times thru recessions, layoffs, firm closures and also Covid. I arrived here in the US in Aug. 2003. There are things I could have done differently for sure. There are things I didn't know when I started the process. But almost 18 years later I received a text saying my GC is approved. 10-12 years ago this news would been really exciting. Now I am just relieved for sure. I am also grateful. There is feeling of joy. I will celebrate.
Thank you and good luck to the ones who are still waiting.

It also gives me pleasure that you feel like sharing the news with us. I just want you to know that there are many people on this forum who do genuinely care and feel happy along with you about this news.

Friends, I am happy to report that I and my wife got our I-485 approval status today afternoon. CPO status showed up on 07MAY21 (late Friday evening). As I already had a false GC CPO in 2012, I wanted to be sure before I share it here. I did my I-485J (AC21) proactively in 2019 and delayed submitting I-693 till the last week of RFE deadline. So my medical forms are still valid. My EB3 PERM is still pending with DOL since December. There is no use for it now.
It has been quite a ride. I thank everyone who had helped me to put-up with the stress. I apologize if I had hurt someone's feelings. It was not my intent. I want to thank 'Q' for his openness and encouraging discussions in a civil manner and ofcourse for the effort he puts in to keep this blog running. I will try to stick around and help everyone to the best of my abilities. But eventually we will all lose interest in GC after some time. I want to share any info I collect on N-400 here as the next step. Good Luck all.

Congratulations! When did you get your RFE? I remember some discussions about lack of response on your SR.
My SR came back with standard response of with adjudicating officer and wait for 60 days last month, so was curious on how much time after SR did you get a RFR.

I did my I-485 J in 2019. Then the RFEs for G-325A and I-693 were submitted in Oct 2019. So my medicals are still valid. The AO did not send new RFE.
I think I summarized my actions earlier in a post. SR in first week of March. It was shot down immediately. Then Congressman query 1 in 2nd week of Mar. It came with PD not current. Then congressman query 2 around 20APR. That came with a 90 day clock. Congresman aide told me to trust him and not to call USCIS anymore.

Congratulations Idliman, good to see old timers getting through with the process. When you filed for 485J back in 2019, was it the first time you filed for 485J? Trying to find out if there will be a need to submit this form again due to long wait times in approving 485

Yes. It was the first I-485J and only move to a different job. Funny that I am doing the same job at the same desk on the same computer (monitor) eventhough technically on paper it is a AC21 move. I wrote the AC21 justification myself, manager signed it and sent to attorney.
I-485 J is on file and the applicant is working for the same employer on H1B.
H1B renewed recently. So my I-94 status is H1B.
I-693 is valid and unexpired.
I believe this is why another RFE was not issued for my case.

Congratulations Idliman. It is about time. I am very happy for you all. Do enjoy this feeling.

Hi Friends,
I am happy to report that today we received our green cards in mail. When I looked at my GC, I couldn't believe that I waited for that small piece of plastic for more than a decade. As such, I was eligible for EB1, being a university professor. But once the university sponsored my GC in EB2 category, they didn't want to spend money again, and I also didn’t care much, since I already had the EAD/AP card, and never thought it would take so long in the first place. Well, it doesn't matter anymore.
The GC doesn't bring any new benefits to me in my professional career, as my livelihood doesn't depend on my job anymore. I also love my current job, plus it comes with the lifetime guarantee due to the "tenured" status. But the GC will definitely help in my personal endeavours. Since my job comes with three months summer holidays and one month winter holidays, I plan to spend 4 months in India with my mom and remaining eight months in the US annually from now on. This will be a great exposure to India for kids as well before they go to middle school.
I have been on Q's forum since its inception, and can't thank Q enough for creating this wonderful platform. Also a special thanks goes to "Spectator" for providing us accurate predictions over the years through his unique data crunching abilities. Finally, I also like to thank all kind souls on this forum who contribute to the forum by helping each other. More recently, idli is doing a great job.
I wish you all the best in your own green card journey! Next 1-2 years belong to us!

@vedu and @idliman, congratulations on getting Greened!! Hope all the best for your future! It's been a long time coming and well deserved. I personally know a couple of friends who got greened recently and both had the same to say. "Yeah, we are happy but mostly relieved that the wait is done". It's a shame that us (the Indian nationals) do not get to experience the pure happiness ROW folks feel when they hear the same news. Do keep visiting this forum and imparting your words of wisdom for the newer members who happen to stumble upon this great platform.

Congratulations vedu. Glad that you are tenured. Having spent 13+ years in industry after graduating, I can't put up with 16 hour grad school work days anymore. That boat had sailed. I envy what you have achieved. Not many can proudly say that "T" word.
I would like to contribute somehow to increase knowledge in our field especially on the technology side. But will be a challenge to do it without getting into IP and being originally from a sensitve country in the DOE world.

Looky looky who is a bit sentimental. I just want you (Spec) and everybody else to know I have exact same feelings. We don't even know each other personally. But it's the shared pain and experience that makes us bond with each other.
Spec - I just want you to know that I feel truly happy whenever I see your post - howsoever long gap goes in between.
Thank you incredible, vsivarama, Mgajsk, suninphx, Transformer, AceMan, idliman, abcx13, Q, tenyearsgone, Noesis, 2011Feb, and Spec!
Despite all our doubts, things are kicking in high gear at the USCIS offices. I have a strong feeling that this express train won't stop until all the pending inventory in at least 2010, 2011, and 2012 will be completely exhausted in the next year or so. In my case, got the RFE on the 14th day of PD becoming current and after submission of RFE response, it literally took more time for USPS to deliver the card than USCIS to approve it. The momentum is for real!
Congratulations vedu. Glad that you are tenured. Having spent 13+ years in industry after graduating, I can't put up with 16 hour grad school work days anymore. That boat had sailed. I envy what you have achieved. Not many can proudly say that "T" word.

Thanks Idli, I hear you, my friend. Our profiles are similar in more ways than different. Industry vs. academic career, both have their pros and cons. Things are not always hunky dory in the ivory tower.
Our GC journey timeline is also pretty similar. It's time to revitalize the "Life after Green card" thread. I am looking forward to your posts on N-400, etc.

Completely agree with you Q.
Now that the action has started once again, I see lots of new members creating accounts and posting on the forum. But they have no idea what a legend Spec was/is! There were times when we would rather listen to his predictions that Charlie Oppenheim himself. But as the data become less and less available, so is Spec. :( And you are no less! Your original thread on IV in 2009 had such a massive following! That was pretty much the only thing happening on IV those days. And when you started this new forum, I immediately followed you here. For the first time, I see the same enthusiasm on the forum as I have seen in the 2009-2010 time frame.
Many great people were here before, and many new great people will join in future. The show must go on!

Congratulations Vedu! Enjoy your new stage in life! This feeling is the same as college graduation! The only difference is, while graduation used to be tinged with a bit sadness that many of us might not see each other again, I dont get that on this forum, since I see long time greened folks continue to stay around to show the ways around immigration (and other stuff)...

Vedu - thanks for your kind words. Yes we started on IV and within 6 months I believe moved to this place. There are some sordid details around me and IV but it is wholly unnecessary to talk about them. What is important is that Indians are still being discriminated against based on country caps. And that's why this blog will continue to do its tiny bit of work to help people.
I never knew you are an academic. What do you teach if I may ask? Imdeng is an academic too.
Also not sure if Idli too is in the same line?

I was aware that Imdeng is also an academic. My field is Systems Engineering. I believe Idli has not one, but two PhDs. One is in his own field and other one is of course in immigration matters! :)

Vedu - IV should be thankful that my thread gave them a boost. I don't have anything to thank them frankly. I am thankful to many people on this forum whose wise posts have enriched my life (and hopefully others' too).
I always wanted to do a PHD but my interests kept changing :) I guess that is not quite conducive to going deep into anything.

Hi Friends,
I am happy to report that today we received our green cards in mail. When I looked at my GC, I couldn't believe that I waited for that small piece of plastic for more than a decade. As such, I was eligible for EB1, being a university professor. But once the university sponsored my GC in EB2 category, they didn't want to spend money again, and I also didn?t care much, since I already had the EAD/AP card, and never thought it would take so long in the first place.
Congratulations Vedu! Spending time in India with kids will be an amazing experience.

Hello Everyone, I am an EB2, 2012 filler with Feb 2010 PD Texas Center and a long-time follower of this forum but a first-time poster. I got the RFE on the first week of April for Medical and supp-j. RFE response was received by USCIS on Monday, May 3rd, and the status also updated online. Anyone has any recent experience on that how long does it take to get the decision after USCIS has received the RFE response?
Replying to my own post so that it can be helpful for others, My case was updated to "New Card is being Produced" yesterday (May 17) and today it changed to "Case Was Approved".

Lyrics: Kaifi Azmi
Movie: Hanste Jakhm
Composer: Madan Mohan
Singer: Lata
Getting a GC is great. But the time lost, the opportunities lost, perhaps sometimes the costs are too much. But hey cheer up ... all is well that ends well.

Hi Everyone,
I wanted to share that we received our approval email notifications today.
I have been a long time lurker and occasional poster in this forum. Its hard to say much when everything is said. I really want to extend my thanks and gratitude to everyone here. Q, Spec, and so many others continue to help everyone, for no selfish interest, just to help others. We are in this together.
Anyone I do meet who is more recent in this journey, the only thing I repeatedly say to them is to get their docs in order ( birth certificate etc especially ). When you need it, you dont have time for it, so get it done as soon as you can. We have been waiting for the boat to arrive for so long that you really don't want to miss it because of those pesky details.
Personal Story:
I have been in the US since Fall 2001 when I arrived for my MS. Till much much later, I didn't ever bother about green card, saying will apply for it when I move to my long term job, after marriage etc.. While others around who had more knowledge and foresight did what was necessary and have since long long back, settled and moved on with life, sponsored their parents etc. These things require decisiveness and we cannot let the what-ifs hold us back. Our PERM was only applied late in the 6th year of H-1B, We were literally counting days and packing up/selling off stuff to move back. Just 10 days before the 6 year expired did the PERM get approved. Subsequently the I-140 got approved in premium and we were able to apply for the H-1B extension exactly a day before our H-1B end date. Not to mention the countless Drivers license issues around that and other periods. The one right thing we did is have our Birth Certificates in order in late 2011. That helped us to file timely in 2012.
I really want thank everyone again. Hope our paths do cross in real life.

Don't worry. You are not alone with indecisiveness. I came in Fall' 1999 for my MS. Similar delay as yours. PERM was applied after by H1B expired and at end of 2009 (had to convert to F1 Visa and work on CPT attending in-person classes in evenings/weekends). Replied back to my RFE and still don't have the card in my hand. You are a step ahead of me.

I was just watching Boman Irani say on Kapil Sharma show that as we age we can easily tear up. My heart became heavy reading your story. If for nothing else for the reason that I came to US in 2000 and got my GC in 2011 and thought that was too late because some of my other friends were approved in 2003.
On some level - though life is fair and in unforeseen ways it makes up for the unfair part. I am really glad for you Neel. I wish you the very best in life ahead.

Congratulations NeelVohra! Your personal story is indeed a story of perseverance!!
We share two things in common. :) We both came to US as students in the same year (even the same month I believe), and we both got our GCs approved in the same month and year twenty years later! I, myself continued studying for the first six years and only cared about GC when I landed my dream job. Back in 2001, George Bush was in his first year of presidency. Last month, he released his wonderful book on America's immigrants titled, "Out of Many, One: Portraits of America's Immigrants (https://www.amazon.com/Out-Many-One-Portraits-Immigrants/dp/0593136969)". The books contains 40+ stories and portraits painted by President Bush himself. Each and every immigrant story in the book is unique and inspiring.
