Exactly 6 years to the date...ago a Priority date was assigned to our labor petition. Two kids, H4 renewals, SAHM, Back in the work force, later...we have our Green Card in our hands today. What a coincidence.

As of last Tuesday, having a GC in hand seemed impossible with TSC being so slow..Oh! How much can change overnight!

I may not have been a regular participant, but I knew where to go and ask questions when I had them! Thanks to this forum and everyone who gives their time here!

I got my card production e-mail today!!! (PD OCT 08 NSC) Soon after that I got another e-mail and it changed to decision.
My journey has come to an end and can't say how relieved I am to have made it through this year. This is a big deal for me as it will help me switch from Academia to a smaller studio setting where sponsorship is always an issue. This blog has been invaluable and has been a constant companion - it helped me cope with the whole process, thanks Q for starting such a wonderful resource. Thanks Spec, Viz (hope you get yours soon), Kanmani, Teddy, Nishant, Sportsfan, Matt 2012 and many others!
To good times!! Wishing everyone the very best and hope everyone pending gets their permanent residence this year.

Your weekend starts now!

Thanks Q!
Me and my roommate from grad school, we had a theme song from the movie 'Triplets De Belleville', we used to play it on long road trips, camping trips, late night parties, it was our song and we always started with it. Brings back good memories, hence Triplet!

Closure to this process brings extreme relief! I'm so glad it is over and I am happy I persevered, partly thanks to this blog! So thanks again for all those who have contributed immensely to the blog, it is a beacon of hope for many!
Viz, I hope we hear good news from you this week, I know everyone here is willing you to get it, or willing USCIS to give you your green card!

Thanks everyone for your congratulatory messages, truly appreciate it!

Hi everyone... Good news at last. Status changed to Card/Document Production this morning at 10:15 AM EST.

PD: Nov 2008 | RD: Mar 2012 | RFE: 23-Jun-2014 | RFE Replied: 14-Jul-2014 |RFE Officer ID: xm0136 | Status changed from RFE to Card Document Production this morning around 10 PM EST.

I got the following message. I hope this is it. I've become so cynical I can't believe it is actually the final stage. Am I really approved? :-)

I joined Q's forum only couple of weeks ago. I didn't know about this forum until then. But I have been following and posting in Trackitt for some time.
Thanks to everyone who shared their information, shared frustrations and encouragement. I've had more help here than my attorney or employer. I wish everyone gets it by November. Even better I hope they recapture visas and approve everyone.

-----------------
Application Type: I485 , APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Hi all :

I got the following email this morning. I did not the Card production email. Does the below mean that the green card is approved? What is ADIT processing mentioned below?

Decision

On August 22, 2014, we mailed you a notice that we had registered this customer's new permanent resident status. Please follow any instructions on the notice. Your new permanent resident card should be mailed within 60 days following this registration or after you complete any ADIT processing referred to in the welcome notice, whichever is later. If you move before receiving your card, please call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

During this step the formal decision (approved/denied) is written and the decision notice is mailed and/or emailed to the applicant/petitioner. You can use our current processing time to gauge when you can expect to receive a final decision.

I'll say this... I thought I'd be happy when I got the GC but I was more relieved than happy. USCIS (and TSC) really takes the fun out of it :) Maybe when i get the physical card in my hand, it'll be party time. The next 2 weeks might also bring some career good news. I'm in the final round of interviews with a top I-bank. So if that comes through double party!

I got my CPO mail today about hour and a half ago, but its only for me. My wife's status still shows RFERR. So, not sure if its something to worry about or its just delayed.

Thanks to all Gurus and everyone else. Have been following this forum since its inception and can't recall a day when I didn't check it.

Don't know if I am happy or relieved or worried why wife's status didn't change. I just don't feel any different (I used to think I will scream with joy when it happens).

So finally 9.5 years after entering US on H1-B and 5 years 11 months after filing for PERM , I am now a Permanent Resident.

Thanks everyone and good luck to the people still waiting. Hang in there....

My details are in the signature below. Let me know if anyone wants to find anything else.

So I've heard these terms thrown around for post CPO events/docs - Welcome notice, welcome packet, Approval notice, tracking #s. Is there a sequence to these? Are the notices similar to I797s?

I guess I can wait and find out but today is a slow day at work with most of the bosses already gone to the damn hamptons for the weekend.

Guys, got CPO mails Saturday morning. After 14 years in the US, hopefully this chapter is closed.

Details:

PD: 15 Dec 2008
RD: 8 Jan, 2012
RFER: 9 July, 2014
Officer: XM 0025
CPO e-mail: Aug 30, 2014
Senator inquiry initiated Aug 8 (no response till Aug 29 from TSC; they were planning to re-inquire today)
InfoPass: Aug 12 (was told my case assigned to officer on July 31)

Thanks to this excellent forum for providing high quality analysis and reliable info over the years...

I still expect USCIS to deliver my wife's card to the wrong address, as they have done with 2 RFEs (despite the correct address with LI/L2), but that is a smaller anxiety to getting approved.

Good luck to all here, and I am sure most to all current in August will get approved this year!

I just want to say - on all Guru's behalf (if I can) - that it feels good when people take the effort to let everybody else know their good news. It is also appreciated when people register just to tell us the good news. All the best guys in whatever you choose to do with this freedom.

All,

Just wanted to informeveryone here that I got a CPO text and an email for me and my wife today !

I wasn't expecting it to come by so early and so haven't really processed it yet ... I thought TSC would clear 2008 before starting on 2009 ..

I cannot thank this forum enough for all the information and support it has provided over the past few years.

Special shout out to Q,Spec,Teddy, Kanmani, Nishant, Veni, Viz, sportsfan, Imdeng, KD, Matt ... forgive me for I cannot practically list everybody's name here .. this entire forum is darn good !

Details:
PD: Feb 09 (TSC) (Filed 485 in Feb 2012).
RFE: June 30th, replied back July 6th. RFERR since July 8th.

Waiting for Sportsfan's approval and hoping to see Kanmani and Imdeng getting current and getting their GCs soon ..

Good luck to all who are waiting at the various stages .... hopefully things will change for better soon and it won't take as long ..

Finally !!! its my turn to share good news: PD: Feb 26th 2009, NSC got notice 5 min ago.

Thanks to Spectator, Q, Imdeng, sportsfan and others and special thank you for Teddy & Kanmani.

Teddy,

I was so sad 2 years ago for not attend function in India due to visa issue and your words was encourages to me also you shared your personel view. Thank you for that.

One quick question to all: My attorney got RFE, we replied and I never recived it any RFE and never changed my house address since 485 was filled, (2 EAD & AP also same address)

GC will come to my home address or Attorney place? Already opened SR on next Thursday, Shall I cancel it ? Shall I call L2 Officer to confirm my address?

Please advise!!!

Thanks,
Anish

Congratulations Anish. Best wishes for a blue life ahead.

It is normal for RFE to only go to the attorney. My RFEs only went to the attorney and she confirmed that this is quite normal. THE GC though will come directly to you - just like EAD/AP.

Finally the 14 year 9 month over. A consolation prize this year after losing my premature second daughter in July.

This forum gave some insight couple of years back, and would look to it for reliable information.

Thanks to Q for forum, Spec for detailed analysis on every subject. Thanks to Kanmani, Viz, Imdeng, and many more.

Hello all,

I have been a follower of this blog for a few years now. It has been an invaluable resource through this ridiculously arduous journey and I am constantly amazed by the analytical abilities of contributors here, most of whom continue to post after receiving their Green cards. Thank you all for keeping our hopes up and keeping us grounded in terms of expectations and reality.

I received the e-mail/SMS on Saturday, September 08, 2014, finally.

Thanks to all the forum members. I’ve been an ardent follower of this forum for last 3 years ever since my friend told about this great place. Thanks to Q, Spec, Nishant, Teddy, Veni and more recently Kanmani, Viz, Imdeng for your contribution.

Only yesterday i was down and frustrated after the visa number news...i can't believe this myself.

I finally got my CPO email/text

PD: 6/24/2008
RD: 1/30/2012
RFERR: 6/19/2014
CPO: 9/11/2014 @ 2:30 PM ET

Additional Info: Initiated Congressman Enquiry on 7/29 and it was going nowhere, finally when i heard the news last night i called them first thing this morning and the lady was very helpful. she spoke to the Congressional liaison at the TSC and said mine is under final review and should happen anytime. Created SR on on Aug 20 but it was a standard reply. In my case God only knows why it took so long when they were happily approving 2009 cases

Wishing everyone (including Seeking_GC_Since_Jun_2008 and Krookbond - You are not far behind) all the best to get yours soon!!!

Venkat,

Congratulations!

Guys, internal retrogression as of 10th and GC approval on 11th indicates there must have been an internal allocation of visas done before the announcement. I wish/guess everyone waiting must have got allocated a visa number before they were exhausted. All the best to all waiting, your cards are on the way!

Congrats to all who got greened.

Need some suggestions

Received the CPO mail & text on Jul 12 followed by welcome notice. There was no case update online after CPO and have not received my GC card till now.

Raised SR after 30 days and received a response after 15 days that "Your file has been requested. Upon receipt, your case will be reviewed".
The mail has an XM# for queries and to wait for 60 days for a response.
I have scheduled an infopass appointment next week and planning to get passport stamped with I 551.

what are my options
1. Will calling USCIS again help - may be try to reach the XM# if L1 agrees to
2. Do I need to seek help of Congressman immediately or wait for 60 days
3. Anything specific I can request during infopass appointment which can help resolve the issue.
4. Is my EAD valid and its due renewal Dec 14 ?

My spouse is also having the same issue.

Thank you so much Q, Spec, Kanmani, Vizcard and all the members here, for having such a one stop place to contribute and support each other. I received the physical GC today 09/12. I couldn't believe it, as almost all my applications in GC journey took it's maximum time to get through but this one.

PD 27th Jan 2009
RFE 13th Jun 2014, for medical and EVL.
RFE responded and delivered on 14th July 2014 but did not move to RFERR, till I see the status changed to CPO on 5th Sept 2014.
Welcome mail received on 9/11 and I missed the window to get the tracking no# from USCIS case status system.
On 9/12 called in to get the tracking no#, L1 transferred my call to L2 as she couldn't help to get the tracking no#.

My spouse is also having the same issue.

I'd focus on the infopass appointment. Take the welcome letter and receipt notices with you along with your passports. Worst case scenario, you can get a I-551 stamp on your passport based on your approval. You are approved so that's not the issue. Your cards are probably just MIA.

Since your case has been approved, your EAD is no longer valid. I would clarify all this during the Infopass appointment.

Hi Guys,

Just a word of caution for those who have moved since filing I-485 and it is pending.

I moved while my I-485 was pending and filed an AR-11 online, I also made sure that I updated my address on my pending I-485. I received confirmation of change both via email and postal mail. All well and good.

I was lucky that my RFE's were sent to my new address and we responded in time.

I got approved recently and got the CPO email with USPS tracking number. The funny thing about USPS tracking is that when you track your mail, it doesn't tell you the destination city as FedEx or UPS. To my surprise when I checked the tracking on the day it was supposed to be delivered, I found out that they shipped the cards to my old address. I thought, oh no problem they will just return it to USCIS because I have mail forwarding setup (been less than a year). But nope, USPS delivered it to my old address, regardless of the fact that I had mail forwarding. I was lucky that I know the tenant at my old address and was able to ask him to ship me the cards.

I didn't dig deeper into why this happened. But I have heard this happen to several people. So I would suggest you call USPS to confirm delivery address when you get your CPO email with USPS tracking and if you have moved since filing I-485.

I opened SR and to which they mentioned visa is available and requested my case for reveiw and i should hear something from them in 90 days. Also contacted congresman and yet to hear from them. When i contacted l2 they mentioned that no one has assined to my case. I dont know whats wrong with my case...

If some thing is wrong then I should not have even got RFE right but I got it and responded back in july and patiently waiting since then.. do you have any suggestions?

Is there anyone who got his/her GC this year that was not RFEd? Also, is there anyone with only medical certification RFE?

Folks- Finally ,oh boy.... what a journey, it has to come to end in a perfect timing. We were blessed with a baby girl on Sunday 9/21 and our CPO email came on Monday 9/22.. We are overwhelmed. I couldn't post it earlier due as our daughter is keeping us busy.I got a break finally to post this. This was one of the toughest journey and I couldn't ask for perfect end. I was very emotional when I got the CPO email. No doubt the toughest journey of my life. I wish no one goes through this pain and anxiety. I love all the informative posts, expertise and the respect being shared Q, Spec, Kanmani, Sportsfan and all the gurus -great job guys and please continue to do so. What gives? Why is there such an asymmetrical processing clearly favoring NSC applicants over the TSC? I am almost certain the NSC will completely clean out its backlog and even green some of the July 2014 applicants while the TSC will leave some old cases behind simultaneously.I'm not sure that is true.

At the end of Q3, USCIS reported that the relative split of EB pending cases at NSC:TSC was 43:57.

NSC started fast then fizzled out quickly, while TSC started later and has continued.

During July to date Trackitt reports the relative approvals for EB2-I as 38:62 in favour of TSC.

In rough terms, the approvals have been in relation to the % of cases at the respective SC and any cases left pending would be in the same proportions - no SC would give a particular advantage.

Looks like I am the last domino to fall. They seem to have started allocating October numbers early!

Sorry I can't think of any colorful metaphors to say that I received CPO finally. My observation is that it came almost the end of the month so it should be from the 2015 quota already.

Don't really feel different because the last few days, I had convinced myself I had the damn green card. I managed to trick my mind.

Anyway, some thank yous are in order. The three foremost: Q (for creating and maintaining this forum), spec (for being the most knowledgeable poster and the one who kept my spirits alive when I bugged him with many PMs with depressing thoughts), kanmani (for being the Guru of all semantics and "law thingies"). Everyone else including imdeng, sunn, viz and even the old timers like Pedro (shame he stopped posting!)...sorry guys, I don't want to drag this unnecessarily. I thank each and every one of you for being the part of this forum and keeping it alive.

I will keep on posting. Good luck to everyone, whoever is still waiting to be greened this year.

I told you it would happen. I thought you might have to wait until October, but I'm very happy that the good news came within FY2014.

Thanks Spec...you were right about the timeframe. I did notice that quite a few folks reported CPOs (haven't done trackitt analysis yet) end of September, which makes me think they started allocating October numbers early. I could be wrong, but this is one thing to keep an eye on.

Needless to say, this should be a sigh of relief to almost everyone. I feel almost certain that by the end of October, very few people with PD until May 1, 2009 should be left over. This would push the date further in July 2015.

Final thought: Everyone with an RFE seems to be accounted for somehow. I don't know how they are managing this, but an RFE seems to have a visa number attached to it.sports,

The figures show a sharp tailing off of approvals after the announcement on September 10, 2014. This seems to be consistent with the approvals coming from FY2014.

Unfortunately, I can't (at least at this time) agree with your thoughts about the end of October, though I would like to. There seem to be just too many cases remaining (excluding new applications) to clear them all with the visa numbers likely to be available in October.

Sports - I can not tell you how happy I am for you. You have been around as long as I have (maybe longer) - I have personally witnessed your trials and tribulations - and I dare say you have been a witness to mine. I remember the stretch when you were not around for some time, then restarted your account, the 2012 euphoria and so on. You have been one of the most enthusiastic posters around - always ready to help other posters. USCIS has really given you a run around - but as the say - all is well that ends well.

So Congratulations my friend. Best wishes for a successful green life forward for you and your family. I hope you will stick around - and if you are around in Chicago-Milwaukee area then ping me and we will share Q-blog stories over a beer :-).

Thanks for the wishes everyone!

imdeng, thanks much for the kind words! We have been here indeed for a long time (3 years and counting!). Things have been certainly pretty wild. Looking back now, I cannot however deny how lucky we have been. When I think back to the "dark ages" (2007-10), the projections made for our PDs (anywhere from 7 to 11 years based upon the *spillover estimates at the time*) were plenty scary.

Things changed during those 4 crazy months for all of us. What happened afterward was really immaterial - needless self inflicted agony. I spent my last few days remembering how lucky I have been and that's what made the final stretch a piece of cake.

It will be you, kanmani and others now around this time next year. For me though, all folks who have the EAD have the equivalent of a GC with a minor inconvenience of needing a visa for Canada and Mexico.

P.S. I will definitely take you up on your Chicago offer. Same offer here from me if you are in DC.

Sports,

Congrats from another fellow traveler. Do stick around for as much as you can.

I have also finally received the GC in hand. Mine was approved on 29th Aug (Lord Ganesha's blessing?), then it took some time to receive it in post. Mine is EB2-India, priority date 2-July-2008, TSC, RFE received on 2-Jun-2014. Was waiting for a long time, getting frustrated, and finally got it. In between I had opened SR, and also contacted the local senator. Both cases the answer was pretty routine - it is in process, and will inform you in 30-60 days. The other uncommon(?) thing that I had done some years back was I had applied for and received the Canadian GC as a sort of backup in case this US GC does not work out. But that Canadian GC expired while I was still waiting for US GC, so in reality it never became a proper backup. I did not go to Canada.

Thanks to so many folks here - Q, Spec, Kanmani, Sportsfan33, Viz, TeddyKoochu and many others. Your observations and comments made sense in this long and mad journey and gave us hope. Thanks once again.

BTW, I noticed on the trackitt threads that the approvals have gone up from Sept 27th. If they are indeed coming from 2014 numbers, that's very encouraging. The backlog is reducing. I feel depending upon how bad the PERM situation is, the date might move even earlier in the FY.

Your approval as well as the ones coming now have to be coming from visa numbers requested before internal retrogression or from 2014 spillover. They surely cannot borrow numbers from 2015 when there are a few days left. The more that are requested from 2014 the better :)

congrats!

Yes, USCIS messed in my RFE in the sense that it was issued back on May 27 2014 but they never mailed it to me or my attorney. They mailed it on Sep 17th with another letter attached to it saying "expiration extended till Oct 22".

I will give it to my Congresswoman and her staff. They kept bugging their USCIS liaison to get status update on my and my wife's case. They called USCIS multiple times to check if RFE was mailed, then to check if reply received was what they were expecting and finally they called USCIS yesterday to check if a decision can be made to our case.

My own attorney was not taking Congreewoman and liaison seriously till they actually got the RFE mailed. She was simply saying, it is their job to treat you well but they will keep giving you standard replies. One of the nicest things in Democracy, legislature has enough power to make executive branches work if they want to.

Congratulations sports. Enjoy the moments. I am happy for you.

I will not leave and keep posting from time to time.

Congratulations sports. Enjoy the moments. I am happy for you.

My 6yr 2mos & 1week journey to GC freedom ended @ 1pm EST today. I was a first time filer (jul 2008) this july. I was happy last fri when our EADs got approved because I thought we only had a outside chance for our cases to get approved before oct 31st but never expected it to happen within 13hours of the dawn of the new fiscal yr.

I loved this forum for the analysis that the guru's based on cold hard - and sometimes implied - facts. This forum has been my beacon of hope for the last few years since I'm across it on a google search (thanks google).

I hope to remain on this forum and hopefully help others in my own small ways.

I would like to thank the guru's on these forum for their tireless work on number crunching to come up with predictions that gave hope to countless folks like me. Our saga came to end this last wednesday when our GC was approved. We were first time filers with a july end 2008 PD. Thanks again for bringing sanity to the countless of EB2-I folks struck in limbo.

Still that date was outside the range of pure EB3-I quota. The difference between May and Dec 2004 is a few months demand for EB3-ROW and thus depending on how efficiently USCIS processed EB3-ROW even May 2004 wouldn't have achieved.

Interesting observations. But USCIS cannot realistically process fresh I-485 cases that fast. Fresh I-485 cases has to go through steps like FBI check, name check. This involves multiple agencies and delay introduced by them.

Q, you can stretch your point for debate sake but I don;t agree with your point. In all probability EB3I is going to progress in coming year.

qesehmk
08-12-2015, 12:43 PM
Yes EB3I will continue to progress without a doubt. The reason is very simple. They are at the bottom of the rung of Visa hierarchy. So DoS has no reason to move those dates in a knee jerk reaction.

You probably didn't understand my point. What I meant to say is EB3-I wouldn't have reached even May 2004 on its own let alone Dec 2004. The difference between May and Dec is not much given most EB3 have already ported. That difference is barely 2-3 months of EB3-ROW demand. Given how EB3-ROW moved 2 or more years in a single year - 2-3 months is 10% of that demand which means if USCIS was even 10% more diligent in processing EB3-ROW - EB3-I wouldnt reach even May 2004.

Just trying to explain if you didn't understand. If you have a different view point would love to hear.

Not always true. Many folks - particularly from EB1 - have 485 processed in 4 months. In fact most EB1-A/B folks have them done in 4-8 months. That's why you don't see EB1 folks visiting these kind of forums!

Filed : 10/07/2019
Finger printing : 11/07/2019
AP New card being produced : 12/20/2019
EAD : Still shows finger prints were taken.

Many congratulations lville. That's a long time to wait for GC. I missed 2 GC PDs one in 2003 (stubborn HR) and then in 2005 (jerk manager) and then got approved on 2007 date in 2011. If PD was 2003 I would have been approved in 2003. If 2005, likely would have been approved in 2008/9. Between you and me the difference is just 2 years, and you had to wait until 2019. This is so unjust. But every thing is well that ends well!!

Would you be able to guess how many years would I have to wait with a PD of Feb 10, 2010 (EB-2-India)?

Thank you.

That's a difficult question to answer but I will take a shot at it
1. At the current rate it could take 5-6 years(2 months movement per year).
2. If there is a change in immigration law to help the most backlogged countries, it could happen in a year or two(nothing is guaranteed, there is one in process which will help India).
3. If there is a recession which could lead to a slow down in ROW perms and approval, there could be a significant spillover which would hep EB-India(2-3 years).

So in a nutshell anywhere from 2 - 5 years, plan accordingly. Having a EAD helps, hope you did apply for it when you were current.

The date has moved from 3/15/2009 to 5/18/2009 in last 1 1/2 year. So the real movement has been 40 days per year. Until EB3 moves ahead of EB2 and downgrades start to appear, the wait can be a lot longer than 5 years.

Finally got greened!! Came to US in 2001 and filed for green card in 2009. Thanks to the immigration law firm, it was postponed from 2007 to 2009. Not sure if it was worth the wait!! Anyways relieved now. Many thanks to the forum for keeping my sanity. Good luck to those waiting.

Congratulations... About 19 years of your journey to earn it. Wow... feel happy for you.
Did you get it processed under EB2I or EB3I? Please share more details, important mile stones and any strategic decisions you took during this journey. Thank you.

20 years in this country and when I actually got the card being produced message, it feels as if nothing changed. Go figure.

Tried to apply in 2007, firm's lawyer insisted on applying in EB3. All I knew at the time was it would it take forever so I declined (did not know porting was an option -LOL) Then applied in EB2 with the same firm and same lawyer in the thick of recession in 2009, got hit with a PERM audit that took two years to clear. Then switched to EAD in a few years and had issues renewing EAD and AP cards and at one time did not have AP to travel to see a sick parent; had to expedite and stress about it. Expediting did not work; so missed out on spending time with family in India.

My two cents:

Without a major change in the immigration process (like elimination of country cap; not counting family members towards annual limit etc), EB India will remain in a quagmire. If you HAVE options, young family etc, re-think if GC is the thing you need to wait for. The current administration if they have their way will look to further tighten the immigration. Add to this, the continuous exploitation (by desis and increasingly others) of all the loopholes in the system will forever keep the EB categories backlogged.

I have a lot more to say, but like I said ...my two cents. So long...

What a great news imdeng. I am so happy for you. New folks might not know but old timers do know what a great support you have been to so many people around here. I wish you and your family the best of times ahead.

Thanks Q. I am probably one the oldest-tenure members here except for like you and Spec. You all have been such a pillar of strength for me and so many others. Thank You!

It has been some journey. Came to the country in June 2003, three graduate degrees between the two of us, filed PERM in 2009, EAD/AP in the glorious days of 2012, RFEs in 2014, 2016, 2018, major panic about BC in the middle, one job change and accompanying I-485J madness, three apartments, two houses, cutest boy-girl twins you will ever see! Finally, after 17 years in the country, we have the legal right to stay in the country - even if we lost our jobs.

Right now I am missing all the old timers in the forum who are no longer active here - folks like Kanmani, Veni, Teddy...
