Hi,
I am currently on H4 and pursuing MS. I want to convert to F1 to be able to do Internship and gain some experience of work culture in the States. My spouse's I140 has been approved and I don't expect us to become current anytime soon (PD April 2011). I would be finishing by December 2013 and I am sure we won't be current by then. My only worry is will changing to F1 cause a problem later on at I485 stage as F1 is a non immigration intent visa (Of course I might already be on another status by the time we become current).

Thank you sportsfan33. When doing COS from H4 to F1, does USCIS verify the background of the applicant? For example what happens to a person's application of COS from H4 to F1 who owns a property in US? Is the bound to create a problem?

Cleansock,

Only thing they care about your admit for a legit school, I-20 and finances to cover your living expenses and Tuition.
I had shown my husband's employment letter and also a loan approval. but generally ur husband's pay check and bank statement here should be enough. My COS was done smoothly in 08 within 1.5 months.
Also as far as GC goes, as a dependent you are not in the application process until i485 is applied. so dont worry about that.
I would also advise you to get the visa stamped from india during your course while some credits are still pending. If you need more information on this, let me know and I will write a detailed reply.
